Thanks to the generous support of the Genesee County community, The Salvation Army has surpassed its annual Red Ket- tle Campaign fund raising goal of $840,500 by more than $28,000. This year’s red kettle campaign raised a total of $868,792.99 of which more than $93,000 was raised from pocket change alone. “Funds raised through the Red Kettle Campaign support the Army’s programs and services during Christmas as well as 365 days a year.” said Captain Jon Augenstein, Genesee County Coordinator The Army has realized an increase in the families seek- ing services. As a result of the economy; federal, state and local funding resources have de- creased by over $361,000. This year’s campaign success was a result of the organiza- tions, churches, service groups, schools, businesses, families, and individuals who volunteered over 5,000 hours to ring bells at over 60 kettle locations, assist with data entry, organize the toy shop and help with the distribution of food, clothing and toys. The Army would like to also extend its deep appreciation to the numerous businesses that sup- ported our organization this year, including Walmart, Sam’s Club, Kroger, VG’s Food Markets, K-mart, Genesee Valley Center, Courtland Center and many more.
