NSPS 100% Membership Request

President’s Note (Submitted by Craig Roberts)

NSPS is requesting each state surveying association sign a

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 100% member-

ship. Under the terms of the MOU, each Regular (licensed)

member of the association is required to be a member of

NSPS. NSPS will reduce dues to $40 per member which will

be added to the state association dues. CLSA's current

dues for a Regular member are $159. If CLSA signs the MOU

with NSPS, dues will increase to $199 which will include

It's graduation season. And with graduation from

high school, college, and maybe kindergarten, comes

volumes of speeches and advice for tomorrow's

leaders. One of my favorite quotes "There are two

types of fools: those who listen to everybody and

those who listen to nobody", shows that everyone,

including the new younger generation, has to decide

for themselves who of the older and presumably

wiser generation is worth listening to. So here's my

advice for what it's worth:

The advice is... "Get involved". "in what?" you might

ask. Anything. Raise your hand, volunteer, partici-

pate, and take on responsibility. You might get in-

volved in a professional organization like the CLSA, or a neighborhood or homeowner asso-

ciation. You could get involved in some sort of recreational activity, like planning fun out-(Continued on page 8)

professional, or something you do for fun or for the community. The key is to get involved in a larger group that is

The rewards are great. By getting involved you make new friends and connections, expose yourself to new experi-

you're more likely to have to pay to get involved, but the skills and connections you make will lead to more pay in the

future. But don't only measure your wealth with money. Be sure to include your friends, your community, your free-

Part Time Field Work - SF Bay Area (from CLSA Forum)

As I am starting up as a self proprietor, I am looking for an assistant for field work in and around the Bay Area, as need-

ed. I have work flowing in, but this is not a full time position at this time. I am looking for someone available to work

weekdays and or weekends as needed. If you are looking for additional work strictly on the weekdays or on weekends,

please specify so that I may consider your availability.

I would prefer someone that has field experience, or a student that has taken some surveying courses at a local college.

If you are currently looking for a career change and you want to learn more about land surveying, please specify as

training would be available. This position is for outdoor work which will require some physical labor.

Please send inquiries along with a resume to: [email protected]
