Mashhad is the second most populous city in Iran and is the capital of Razavi Khorasan Province. It islocated in north east of the country close to the borders of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. It was amajor oasis along the ancient Silk Road connecting with Merv in the East.

Mashhad features a steppe climate with hot summers and cool winters. The city only seesabout 250 mm of precipitation per year, some of which occasionally falls in the form of snow.

Qom, also known as Qum or Ghom, is a city in Iran. It lies 125 kilometers (78 mi) by roadsouthwest of Tehran and is the capital of Qom Province. It is situated on the banks of theQom River. Qom city enjoys a dry and warm climate with low annual rainfall due toremoteness from the sea and being situated in the vicinity of desert.

You can visit Masjid Jamkaran & Shrine of Masoumeh in Qom.

Qom is considered holy by Shi`a Islam, as it is the site of the shrine of Fatema Mæ'sume,sister of Imam `Ali ibn Musa Rida (Persian Imam Reza, 789–816 AD). The city is the largestcenter for Shi'a scholarship in the world, and is a significant destination of pilgrimage.
