As the year-end holidays loom around the corner, we all know that most of us are all packed and prepped to embark on the vacation that we have been dreaming of the whole of this year. Even if you have not booked yourself on a trip out of Singapore,do not start panicking as there is still plentyof time to plan. Take for instance, my trip to Taiwan back in September, details suchas flight and accommodation were finalised within a month from departuredate. Spontaneity played a big part in mostof that journey, from the last-minute offer forflight tickets to Taiwan (which I grabbed) to deciding where to visit in Taiwan based on recommendations from the locals we met. At the end of the journey, it made me realise how important it is to plan your trip around your interests and preferences – mine eventually developed into a gastronomic hunt day and night! Indeed, my visit to Taiwan served as a poignant reminder of how easy it is to fall in love with travelling, and that personal touch is the final factor that makes every vacation the trip of your lifetime.

With the successful wrap-up of the Singapore Travel Mart last month, we have come to realise how travellers are moving towards the trend of free and easy travelling. Travellers these days value flexibility in their travelling, and they want a variety of options offered to them so that they are able to decide the type of vacation that suits them best. As with any country or destination in the world, there is a whole array of things to see and do, and it is always best to do your research beforehand to help you decide what kind of journey you wish to embark on. Whether it may be an all-inclusive trip that covers the usual tourist spots, or a themed vacation that focuses on sightseeing, shopping or food, always keep in mind that unforgettable memories are formed from what speaks to your heart.

This activity also symbolizes the letting go of one’s anger, grudges and all other negative feelings in order to start anew. In the run-up to the festival, you will find many shops and market stalls selling ready-made ‘krathongs’ – similar to a small boat or receptacle, or in parts so that you can assemble and decorate your ‘krathong’ to your heart’s content. Release them into a river or small canals as the traditional Thais do, and immerse yourself in a string of cultural activities, such as ‘Ram Wong’ dance performances, krathong-making competitions and even a beauty contest.

Travellers who are members of the Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) frequent flyer programme, Krisflyer, can now earn miles when they fly on Scoot and Tigerair, both subsidiaries of the airline.

With effect from September 29, 2015, Krisflyer members are able to earn miles when they purchase a PlusPerks bundle or FlexiCombo fare for flights on Scoot and Tigerair respectively. This latest enhancement comes after the option for Krisflyer members to use their miles and redeem Scoot and Tigerair travel vouchers or pay for selected products offered by the two budget carriers, which was introduced earlier this year.

So if you find yourself in Bangkok with a weekend to spare, we highly recommend exploring this place.

Central World If you have missed the weekend market, fret not as Central World awaits! The mega-mall boasts 8 levels of pure shopping goodness, and houses two mega-stores, Zen and Isetan. Each level caters to a specific demographic, for instance, the 2nd level sells women’s clothing, while the 3rd level caters to men. The mall is essentially divided into six different zones, and incorporates a unique design in each. Siam ParagonIf you are into high fashion, Siam Paragon is a definite must-visit! JJ GreenJJ Green is relatively more chill as compared to other night markets, and mostly sells vintage apparels (including printed shirts), retro toys from the 90s (figurines, gameboys etc.), and even cassette tapes featuring songs from iconic music artists. From bustling bars to small stalls serving snacks, comfort foods and everything in-between, it is safe to assume why this night market is dubbed the gypsy market of Bangkok. It has been a very busy and exciting year for Titan DSB as we actively promote the importance of Luggage Safety and Awareness in Malaysia by participating in travel-related exhibitions, events and workshops. Our company has recently joined forces with Uni-Asia Tours Hong Kong to promote the Travel Outlet Online store, which is an e-commerce platform in Malaysia and other parts of the world. With this unique joint venture, Titan DSB will be actively involved in the travel industry to promote value-for-money travel packages to Hong Kong, and this will enable us to have a further market reach in creating awareness for luggage safety via Traveloc. In fact, Uni-Asia Tours Hong Kong will also be promoting the Traveloc within the region.

Titan DSB had worked closely with Uni-Asia Tours Hong Kong during the Hong Kong Muslim Friendly Product Workshop held at Park Royal Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and Excelsior Hotel in Ipoh. Each participant in the workshop received a set of Traveloc.

With this collaboration with Uni-Asia Tours Hong Kong, we had also attended the Hong Kong Travel Mission To Malaysia event that was organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Our main purpose was to promote the Travel Outlet Online store to participants of the event, while introducing our Traveloc and its unique features to interested parties.

As one of the sponsors for the MITM Fair 2015, Titan DSB had received overwhelming response from the general public about the Travelocs that we had sponsored for the event. In doing so, we had successfully increased the awareness of Luggage Safety to potential travellers and garnered heightened interest for our Travelocs.

By sponsoring the Travelocs as door gifts for the Porsche Club Annual Golf Championship 2015, we feel that we have managed to create more awareness about luggage safety to golfers who attended this event.

During the Matta Fair in September 2015, Titan DSB had collaborated with Bestour & Travel (M) Sdn Bhd together with Etihad Airlines to sponsor our Travelocs as gifts to customers who purchased travel packages from Bestour during the fair.

In addition, Titan DSB has also signed an MOU with Fitloq Sdn Bhd to promote safety and security for bags during sporting events. The first sporting

event that we have sponsored was the Mountain Bike Challenge 2015 in Penang. In future, Titan DSB will continue to work closely with Fitloq Sdn Bhd for the majority of upcoming events held within the sporting industry.

As for Singapore, Titan DSB will be participating in two exhibitions. We had sponsored 500 sets of Travelocs to WWM PTE LTD, the organiser of the Singapore Travel Mart 2015 that was held in Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, as door gifts for visitors during the exhibition. This has raised the public’s interest in our Traveloc, and amidst the enquiries about our product at the event, we have also successfully taught about the importance of luggage safety and security, especially while travelling.

Titan DSB will also be present at the ITB Asia 2015 exhibition as a representative of Uni-Asia Tours Hong Kong to promote the Travel Outlet Online store. Thereafter, we will be heading to the WTM exhibition in ExCel London to promote the Travel Outlet Online store as well.

However, many locals regard Antiga Confeitaria de Belem, a bakery adorned with ornamental tiles found in the western perimeters, to be the birthplace of the revered patisserie, and the only place to have the authentic pasteis de nata experience. It is said that the sweet pastries resulted from an attempt at survival, after all convents and monasteries were shut down as an outcome of the liberal revolution of 1820. Alas, that dull skin and chappy lips are quite a downer on your vogue look; those are signs of winter’s toll on you. Fret no further, here are a few tips to help you achieve luminous skin this holiday season.

SunscreenDid you know that even in winter, the sun’s UV rays are just as harmful on your skin? Do not neglect the sunscreen even if you are heading out of the house for a short bit. Choose one with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin against the sun’s glare reflecting off the snow-covered ground. Layering WarmthWear gloves and scarves made out of cotton to protect your skin from the cold, other materials such as wool might aggravate your skin. If you have to, wear cotton beneath wool layers. Here’s a tip: moisturize before wearing your gloves and scarves so as to lock in all that moisture which will keep your skin feeling warm and soft. Even when you are indoors, consider layering your clothes to feel snuggly as compared to using a heater which will only dry your skin out eventually.

Lock It InMoisturize, moisturize and moisturize. While it is clear by now that your skin needs as much moisture as it could possibly get, it is important to note that moisturizing on a damp skin helps to seal all that dampness in, making your moisturizer work even harder. Moisturize day and night preferably with an oil-based moisturizer, which will help to retain moisture longer throughout the day. Be sure to moisturize your face, body and lips.

Slough off dry lips with a lip balm. Flaky lips are definitely not a pretty sight, so use either petroleum jelly or a beeswax balm to constantly hydrate your lips, in particular the corners of the mouth so as to prevent any cold sores. Keep a lip balm in your pocket to not only moisturize your lips but to glam it up. For the ladies, avoid wearing a matte lipstick, choose a moisturizing lipstick to enhance your look without the fear of flaky lips.

Warm It UpThinking of jumping into a hot bathtub to keep yourself warm? You might want to think twice about that. The oils on your skin will be stripped as soon as you step out of the shower with the prolonged temperature. Opt for a short warm shower instead in order not to dehydrate your skin further.

ExfoliateAll that dehydrated dead skin cells tend to build up even if you have been moisturizing religiously, hiding that gorgeous glow you have worked hard for. Gently exfoliate once a week using a simple homemade exfoliant like an oatmeal honey mask

Keep a look out for the nest boxes and bird boxes installed in the park, and you might be surprised with a glimpse or two of the shy bee-eaters and woodpeckers that nest in such habitats. The island is also a popular stopover for migratory birds so you never know what you might find. However, there is far more than just forests for visitors to explore. The public can also wander along the newly built boardwalks amongst mangrove swamps that host a diverse variety of plant and animal species. If you are lucky and have a keen enough eye, you might even spot the only Brahman Bull (a severely endangered species) that resides on the island.

For those looking for a more wholesome experience of the island, online registration is available for guided tours that start from 10am to 11am on selected dates. After which, if you fancy a cycle with your family and loved ones, you may rent bicycles from Punggol Point Park and cycle from one end of the island to the other. Zip through the pathways and breathe in the scent of fresh air mixed with the salty sea breeze. Finally, when the day is done and you are ready to wind down, meander down the boardwalks and catch a glimpse of the setting sun slowly dipping beyond the horizon.

Even the entire board-walk, benches and park signs that are littered all over the island are made from recycled timber collected from uprooted Casuarina trees. It is remarkable to think that just decades ago, Singapore was home to some of the most diverse wildlife on earth, but as the years went by, more and more of our flora and fauna have become critically endangered or locally extinct in the wild.
