Linguistic Qualification

Managing and continually growing a pool of thousands of translators worldwide requires a process with key elements that apply across the entire Andovar organization, yet provide enough flexibility to enable customization where merited. Andovar has developed a process that provides a perfect marriage of these characteristics.

Andovar maintains a full-time resource management team tasked solely with the identification, testing and manage-ment of translators. Our rigorous evaluation program includes a triple-screening system based on subject-area specific tests covering each element of the translation process. The linguistic pass rate for this process averages under 8%, or even lower for certain technical or medical subject areas.

In addition to the linguistic aspect of our testing program, Andovar’s resource management team verifies the techni-cal capacity of linguistic applicants. This includes their ability to use modern translation memory tools or other industry standard technologies.

Proven Translation Processes

Andovar’s translation process strictly adheres to principles set forth in EN 15038, the European Union standard governing language service providers. In addition to sourcing of qualified translators by our resource management team, we execute a complete translation memory (TM) analysis and content review at the scoping stage to ensure that we understand every facet of the project.

Pre-production: Once the client approves our quotation, Andovar moves forward with any necessary prepara-tion steps, from creating a glossary with project-related terminology to file processing. We simultaneously plan the project lifecycle and workflow.

Linguistic Process: Once all preparatory steps are finished, Andovar’s linguistic team begins the process of translating, editing, and finally approving the translated copy. Most of this work is executed within a CAT (com-puter-assisted translation) environment, ensuring an up-to-date translation memory database and cost savings on repeated content.

Client Review (Optional): Andovar can provide the translated content in a variety of review-friendly formats. Once comments from client are returned, Andovar will review and reconcile feedback into a client-specific TM database, and into the native format for a final, approved translation. The TM will be leveraged for all future projects to ensure incorporation of client preferences, as well as reduction of cost through repurposing of translated content.
