Standard Programme:

Interpreting (MATI)

Students acquire Public Service Interpreting Skills in one or more of the following areas:

• Health• Law: Police & Court• Business

Also:• Consecutive Conference Interpreting• Simultaneous Conference Interpreting

MATI graduates are well prepared to pass the Diploma in Public Service

Interpreting (DPSI) of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), London

Specialisation (MAPT)

Students can acquire specialisation in one or more of the following areas:

• Translation Technologies• Terminology• Audiovisual Translation• Project Management

(in Translation Work Experience module)

• MAPT students can take one interpreting module.

• Free SDL Trados certification exams (the leading computer-assisted translation tool in the market)

Individual Research Project

Students must choose at least ONE of the following (depending on which version of the programme they are enrolled on):

Dissertation60 credits (30 ECTS)

2 x Extended Translations and Commentaries

60 credits (30 ECTS)

12-week Internship60 credits (30 ECTS)

Additional options for Extended Programmes

• Students can choose:• Either TWO different Individual Research Projects• Or ONE Individual Research Project AND more taught

modules, e.g. to gain further specialisation

• Students with advanced French: Erasmus+ exchange agreement with Université de Grenoble Alpes either the first or the second semester of their Part 2.

Additional options for Extended Programmes

METS:• Mobility in Europe for Translation Specialisation• This programme offers a unique Extended MA variant with

a year abroad, spent studying at two different partner universities in the METS consortium.

• Applicants from Swansea will normally need to offer three languages (to include English), one of which must be the student’s mother tongue.
