In 1963, C.J. Refugio Guzmán Jiménez, received a Mechanical-Electrician degree at the Technological Institute of

Higher Studies of Monterrey, at the same time decided to open a place in the electrical industry and founded IMEM

as a small family business. His vision was to fill what he considered a vacuum in the local electricity industry, by

manufacturing ferroresonant saturated-core voltage regulators, which were once indispensable for televisions,

refrigerators, and voltage devices until the year of 1968.

Man with great vision decided to venture into the manufacture of transformers, starting with pole-type transformers,

single-phase and three-phase in medium voltage.

The first transformers of the company became the hallmark of IMEM. Always thinking about the future, Mr. Guzmán

made it his personal mission to identify trends in the electrical industry, and to stay at the forefront of these trends

by introducing innovative products to the market that immediately satisfy the demands of customers.

On October 2, 1970, the General Directorate of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce granted the SIC-DGE-5250

authorization for the manufacture, sale and use in the Mexican Republic of IMEM brand distribution transformers of

national manufacture up to 3000 KVA, 1 and 3 phases, 50/60 HZ. 23000 V.AT, 440 / 253.9 V.BT, oil cooled, indoor

and outdoor service.

Under the direction of Ing. Guzmán, during the following 5 years, IMEM expanded its manufacturing to distribution

transformers for agricultural use in pumping equipment and in the first industries of the Laja-Bajío region.

In 1975 the railway was used to send the transformers to the whole Mexican Republic. In the same year,

transformers were manufactured in what is now Miguel Hidalgo street in the city of Celaya, Guanajuato.

During the next 25 years IMEM continued consolidating as one of the main brands in the country.

In November 1999, the management of LP-Gas and Electrical Installations of the energy secretary authorized IMEM

to manufacture transformers for compliance with NOM-002-SEDE-1999 "Safety and energy efficiency requirements

for distribution transformers".

At the beginning of the year 2000 IMEM began to test its prototypes in CFE LAPEM and since then it has been a

member of ANCE. It began exporting to the Middle East, the United States, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, the

Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Chile.

In the year of 2010 IMEM changes to its new facilities on the Panamerican Highway Km.47 in the municipality of

Apaseo el Grande in an area of 5 hectares

Over the years we have incorporated new product lines with the aim of providing our customers with an integral

solution to their needs. We have an excellent human group which is trained on a permanent basis in order to be

updated in the changes and technological innovations that are presented in our field.

Our main objective is to achieve a permanent improvement in our activities in order to provide a service that ensures

a delivery in time and form with its corresponding advice, technical support and its subsequent after-sales service.

The fulfillment of the aforementioned guidelines requires us to strictly comply with our quality system manual and

procedures in order to achieve the ultimate goal of full satisfaction of our customers by complying with current

regulations and the standards set by ISO 9001: 2015.

In 2017, the electrical testing laboratory of CFE-LAPEM issues satisfactory certificates in accordance with the standards:

Page 5: Transforming electricity in business. · In 1963, C.J. Refugio Guzmán Jiménez, received a Mechanical-Electrician degree at the Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Monterrey,

• NMX-J-169-ANCE-2015.

• NMX-J-285-ANCE-2016.

• NOM-002-SEDE / ENER-2014.

At the end of 2017 IMEM acquires an automated electrical testing laboratory from Phenix Technologies.

From this year, IMEM begins to receive electronic payments online within its page to make the shopping experience of its customers more convenient and simple.

CONSTRUCTION

IMEM Pole-Mounted distribution transformers are ready to be mounted on a pole or any other similar structure, in order to be used in aerial feeding systems.

The Pole-Mounted distribution transformer is the most used in the rural

and urban zones.

They are commonly used in residential areas, industries, shopping

centers, wells, etc.

Pole-Mounted distribution transformers are self-cooled in an insulating fluid and are classified as an ONAN type (Oils-Natural-Air-Natural). They are produced to operate at an altitude of 1000 or 2300 meters above sea level, with an overheating of 65ºC, along with a room temperature that does not exceed 40ºC and the average temperature within a 24 hour-period that does not exceed 30ºC, or coast transformers with a room temperature that does not exceed 50ºC and an average temperature within a 24 hour-period that does not exceed 40ºC, according to the client's specifications.

These are built with coated cores of grain-oriented silicon steel which have a high magnetic permeability, manufactured in UNICORE machines to achieve the least of the losses in vacuum.

The AT/BT coils are manufactured with electrolytic copper wires and/or aluminum of low electrical resistance in different types of insulation according to their needs.

The tanks are built with stainless or carbon steel sheets, depending on the requirement, and they go through a white metal blast cleaning process, an application of an anti-rust epoxy primer and a high resistance polyurethane varnish. The insulating fluid is free of polychlorinated biphenyl of the naphthenic type (NMX-J-123-ANCE) or biodegradable vegetable oil of high flash point, according to the customer's specifications.

The dry ventilated transformers with class "H" insulation are prepared for work in closed environments. For their safe operation, especially in case of fire they are compact and maintenance free designs. Compared to other alternatives, they have the advantage of having a low percentage of insulating materials, reducing the emission of toxic gases, mainly CO.

Dry-type potency and distribution transformers are manufactured according to the following:

-Dry-type transformers with closed cabinet, according to NEMA regulations (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), depending on the client's specifications.

-Dry-type transformers without cabinet (normally used when installed inside a board).

IMEM Submersible-type distribution transformers are designed to be installed in wells or vaults that occasionally may suffer floods, so they have to be a dead front type with accessories to connect to underground distribution systems. Submersible-type distribution transformers are commonly used in hospitals, historical places or where aesthetics and space are essential.

Submersible-type transformers are self-cooled in an insulating fluid and are classified as an onan type (Oils-Natural-Air-Natural). They are designed for outdoor services inside a well that has a high level of humidity, with saline environments and pollution by hydrocarbons, lead and ozone. They are produced to operate at an altitude of 1000 or 2300 meters above sea level, with a temperature overheating of 65ºC, along with a room temperature that does not exceed 50ºC and the average temperature within a 24 hours-period that does not exceed 40ºC, according to the client's specifications.
