Eike Fuhrken Batista is a Brazilian businessman who is active in various industries, particularly

petroleum, logistics, energy, mining and shipbuilding. he is president of the Grupo EBX, which

standards of corporate governance: OGX (oil and gas), MPX (energy), LLX (logistics), MMX

Between 1980 and 2000, Batista created us$ 20 billion in value through the

installation and operation of eight gold mines in Brazil and Canada, and a silver

mine in Chile. since 2000, EBX has been operating three iron ore mines

in Brazil. From 2004 to 2010, Batista established and took public five

companies: oGX, MpX, LLX, MMX and osX.

between 2011 and 2012, generating 20,000 jobs in the

EBX and its companies support nearly 160 socio-environmental initiatives in Brazil, among which are the

preservation of three national parks (Lençóis Maranhenses, Marinho Fernando de noronha and pantanal

Mato-Grossense), five private natural heritage reserves (dorochê in Mato Grosso, as well as Engenheiro

Eliezer Batista, acurizal, penha and rumo ao oeste in Mato Grosso do sul), and the Muriqui Ecological

Corridor in rio de Janeiro, one of Brazil’s largest atlantic Forest restoration projects.

Creating jobs and opportunities for professional certification are the basis for the group’s and

Brazil’s growth. EBX will invest r$ 30 million to train 25,000 workers by 2014. in parallel,

it has allocated approximately r$ 20 million to finance projects and partnerships with

universities in Brazil, Chile, Colombia and China.

in the social arena, examples of Group activities in recent years include family

relocation programs (Vila nova Canaã in Maranhão and Vila da terra in são João

da Barra, rio de Janeiro); support for the construction of the pediatric Cancer

Center (CpC) in Ceará; and support for the pro Child (pro Criança) heart

hospital in rio de Janeiro. the EBX Group also invests in historical and

cultural preservation. in Belo horizonte, Minas Gerais, the Group built

Fpso osX-1 is the EBX Group’s first floating production, storage and offloading of oil and gas unit.

the largest shipyard in the americas, the osX shipbuilding unit (uCn), in rio de Janeiro’s açu superport industrial Complex, represents an investment of us$ 1.7 billion. Begun in July 2011, uCn construction is scheduled for completion in 2014.

in 2013, the Group plans to start operations at the açu superport (in san Joao da Barra), through the attraction of productive investments of us$ 40 billion and the generation of 50,000 jobs in the coming years.
