Trend 1: Less. desktop; more mobile…but not that fast. (Remember – 1.4% in 2012 report.)

• 22.9M iPads sold in Q1 2013 – 33% increase over Q4 2012

• 646K – number of search results on BYOD on Google.]

• 7.4B – number of mobile devices by 2015 (current population about 7B)

• 4:1 – number of mobile apps being developed for every desktop app by 2015.

Trend 2: Fewer “full-sized” courses. More learning snacks, video, ePubs, reference tools.

• Online courses that are either very small (5 – 10 minutes) or BIG – but consumable in small pieces w/ no expectation people finish them.

• Online reference tools instead of courses.

• Videos that engage, offer just-in-time tips, serve as alternative to text.
