TRAINING AGENDA

Background

As part of the Capacity Assessment of Level 3 and Level 4 Hospitals in Luzon project of the

Department of Health, the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI) is tasked to create

and train multi-disciplinary teams that will conduct the actual assessment.

Objectives

This two-day training workshop aims to develop the capacity of assessment teams to evaluatethe functional and non-structural elements of hospitals using the indicators and corresponding

sub-indicators listed in the Safe Hospitals Assessment Tool as reviewed by the EMI. By the

end of the training workshop, the participants shall have: (1) gained the skills and knowledge

to use the assessment tool for functional and non-structural assessment; (2) been enabled to

conduct the inspection process with the aid of the Field Operations Manual, (3) been

familiarized with the assessment reporting system for project monitoring; and (4) enabled to

rate the main indicators to synthesize findings. The last item is an integral part of the analysis

to contribute in formulating DOH policies and priorities with respect to managing, operating

and maintaining hospitals.

Training Kit

The training kit consists of: (1) Training Agenda; (2) Field Operations Manual; (3)

Workbook; (4) note pad; and (5) ball pen.
