The workshop introduces the three P’s for success; personal, persistence, and planning. As two professional Latina women in the Federal sector, we’ve found that being “professional” takes more than having a degree and a “professional” job. It takes personal growth and strength – for any job. Our goal is to help individuals build their self-up from the inside out by looking at their personal lives first. Participants are asked the following questions: What are your dreams? What do you want to be doing? What is holding you back? What do you need to reach your full potential? How do you let go of things that are not serving you? After touching on personal, then the concept of persistence is defined as never giving up on what you want to achieve. Nothing comes easy and it takes hard work, dedication, and determination. The energy put out into the world will come back ten-fold in persistence. Planning involves coming up with short term goals, measuring success, and being accountable for the decisions you make. Planning also includes having a back-up plan when things do not go as imagined.

An important tool to all of the three P’s is learning how to navigate through conflict. By understanding your motives and intentions, you can better prepare to have a conversation with someone you have a conflict with and how to navigate through touchy conversations. These are all soft skills that are never taught in school or family. Remembering the three P’s and how to understand yourself when experiencing conflict are critical tools for success.

3:30pm-5:00pm The Three P’s of Success: Personal, Persistence & Planning 150C WEDS. JULY 8 ECQ: Result Driven, Business Acumen Track 4: GLT-2 Competency: Strategic Thinking, Communications, Conflict Resolution
