HISTORY
• Jota is a Spanish folk dance native to Aragon, in the North of Spain, dating back to the 18th century and since then is their typical dance.
• The word “jota” means “jump”.• The jota is sung and danced with castañuelas.
JOTA
• MUSIC:The music of the jota is very energetic.Its instruments are: guitars, bandurrias (which is like a mandolin), lutes, a dulzaina, (similar to an oboe) and drums.
• DANCE:It’s danced in pairs . Jota songs can be about a wide variety of different subjects, from religious themes, patriotic feelings to relationships .
• COSTUME:A white shirt,a black waistcoat, and white shoes with black bows, girls wear a long black skirt and boys wear black trousers.
Muñeira
• Music : Bagpipes and tamboril• Galician folk dance • Danced by couples and with your arms
outstretched• Traditional dance that is performed in the
autonomous community of Galicia• This region has traditions and dance
connected to the Celtic culture
Sardana
• Some people think that it started in Greece• It is danced in a circle and in pairs .• The instruments are : Tenora, timble, fabiol, tambori, trumpet, trombon
and the double bass • Clothes: White scarf,white blouse,brown waistcoat,long skirt
with 3 lines ,white stockings,black apron,white shawl and espadrilles.
