Apprenticeships and Weekly Apprenticeship Training System (WATS)Apprenticeship programs involve eight to 12 weeks of classroom training per year. WATS programs involve one day of training at Lethbridge College per week throughout the length of the program. Both programs offer a combination of work experience and technical training along with on-the-job training. You’ll work with an employer and our experienced instructors to gain the best of both worlds as you learn, work and earn money while training.

If one of our apprenticeship programs appeals to you, here’s what you need to do: if you’re not already working in the field, find an employer willing to employ and indenture you. Then contact the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board at 1-800-248-4823. Once you’re registered, we will have you on your way to writing your journeyman papers and getting that high-paying job in three or four years, depending on which apprenticeship program you choose.
