Some Summer days in Estevan are spent at the golf course. There are a couple courses on the south outskirts of town that fi ll most local golfers fi xes.

I like to golf at both courses depending on what I am trying to work on. Hidden Val-ley Golf Course is great for my short game while TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club helps with my long drives.

Hidden Valley has a great family atmo-sphere and has a mini golf course that the kids love. TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club has a great kids program with instructors that are great with kids.

TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club recently opened their new back 9 in 2013 and are

*Junior Rates Only

expecting the back nine to be in even better shape with more growth for 2014 season.

Hidden Valley has lots of cart rentals available. I love keeping track of my score on their electronic score cards. I can even email them to myself or my competitor to let them know how I played.

I usually grab a bite to eat after my game and TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club has a great clubhouse that has some really great food and service. Try their breakfast or their sweet potatoe fries.

Both courses host tournaments throughout the season. So if you are planning on hosting a tour-nament, just talk to their staff!

Every year my family and I go camping. The kids talk all year long about our camp-ing adventures. How lucky are we that we don`t have to travel far to create memo-ries!

Estevan has a few picks depending on where you want to camp and how you camp.

If you are in town working and want a seasonal site, Hidden Valley, Woodlawn Regional Park Souris and Super 6 are all great places to choose. If you are looking

for a family hotspot you might want to choose the Woodlawn Boundary site as it has onsite am-menities that will keep your family busy!

Most of the sites have full sewer and water hook-up. Both Woodlawn Sites have tenting areas.

Woodlawn Souris opens its doors again for the fi rst time this year as it has undergone a major overhaul since the fl ood of 2011.

Our local campgrounds are always busy, so make reservations to confi rm your spot.

Estevan Snowmobile ClubThe Estevan Snowmobile Club maintains around 250 km of trails in the southeast. Main trails run from Estevan to Benson, Lampman, Wilmar and Arcola with warm-up/safety shelters in between.

The club has been in operation for more than 15 years and operates on a membership basis. Snowmobilers from out of province are able to ride on their groomed trails as long as they have a snowmobile license.

Fore more information on the club visit their facebook page Estevan Snowmobile Club and for trail maps go to www.sask-snow.com

Estevan MotorSpeedwayWhen you are looking for a “sit on the edge of your seat” experience look at the Estevan Motor Speedway at the 3/8 mile high-banked oval dirt track and grandstand that puts you above the track so you can see what is happening all the time.

Each night there are three regular classes that race bi-weekly where the drivers compete for the nightly purse and points for the track, regionally and nationally.

The Estevan Motor Speedway has special events throughout the race season including Monster trucks, Box Car Races and many others.

Estevan Drag Racing Associa onWhat a thrill to spend an afternoon as two vehicles race down the track.

The Estevan Drag Racing Association has been in our community since 2003 and pits a large variety of auto-mobiles from bikes, cars and trucks. The drag racing com-munity is a large one and holds a lot of fans in the Estevan area. Some of the modifi cations done to these vehicles are something to be in awe of and spectators may have a chance to get up close and personal with the cars and their drivers.

The races are held at the Estevan Airport with plans in the works, of making a permanent home near the Shand Power Station in the near future.

Trackside MXEither get your motor running and head down to Trackside MX for some awesome races or come out and watch all the action from the grandstands.

Trackside MX has a diverse terrain with 3 valley sections, over and under bridge, step-on and step-offs, big doubles and rythmn section. There is also a kids track to develop skills for those new to the sport.

If you are coming to Estevan for the track; camping and RV space is available.

Most of the racers belong to the Southeast Corner Racing Circuit that has events throughout the Southeast in our sur-rounding communities.

The Adrenaline is working when you feel like you are fl ying, without the plane.

Ice FishingIce Fishing in Estevan is a favourite

pastime of locals. There are a couple main bodies of water that are well known for their ice fi shing hotspots.

Rafferty Dam Reservoir, just a couple kilometers west of Estevan is known for its’ big Jack and Walleye.

Boundary Dam Reservoir, 10 ki-moters south of Estevan is great for Perch, Walleye, Jack and Large Mouth Bass.

License fees and limits are the same year round. While Ice Fishing, a fi sh-erman can have two rods in the water at a time.

Angling Licences are sold at local gas stations and online.

TobogganingFeel like a kid again speeding down

a snow covered hill and making the long trek back up it.

We have a few hills that are known for great tobogganing that many people get use of on beautiful winter days.

A well known hill is the “Westview Hill” located on the 1700 block of 1st Street. There is a “ramp” half way down the hill that adds even more distance and speed.

The Valley in Pleasantdale area is another great hill. Shorter than West-view but steeper and an easier climb. There are different spots that you can get to the Valley. The north part of Cundall Drive is a good starting place.

Outdoor Ice RinksThe outdoor skating season is

weather dependant but usually runs from mid December to early March.

Grab your skating gear and head to the outdoor rink. Each outdoor rink is maintained by different community organizations, local volunteers and the City.

All Rinks are boarded and have hock-ey nets and shovels to clear snow. They also have warm up shacks that have benches and washrooms.

Snowshoeing / Cross Country Skiing on Souris River

Snowshoeing and Cross Country Skiing are fast growing sports that are growing in our area. The Souris River is a great place to try out the sport.

The Souris River usually freezes over mid-December until early March, but check conditions before you go out on the ice.

Wander the frozen river bed at your own pace. Pick out wildlife tracks in the snow or admire nature under a beautiful white blanket of snow.

Few places will provide you with such in-depth, guided tours of the means by which coal fi red plants help generate electricity for our province. Landmarks within the community, Boundary Dam and Shand Power Stations are an integral part of the community. The mammoth size and operations of these marvels can be explored and learned through guided tours. The tours are FREE and provide a great insight into the industry of coal mining.

Tours run from June to August from Tuesday through Saturday. Participants have the option of selecting between two tours, depending on their preference on tour specifi cs and time. The morning tour leaves at 9am from the Visitor Informa-tion Centre, and tours Rafferty Dam and the Boundary Dam Mine site. The Raf-ferty Dam reservoir is the largest body of water in the south eastern corridor.

The afternoon tour departs at 1pm from the Visitor Information Centre as well and tours the Shand Power Station, Shand Greenhouse and the Boundary Dam

Mine site. The Shand Power Station is the most environmentally advanced coal fi red plant in the country.

While drop ins are welcome, it does not guarantee you a spot. To reserve your spot, call the Visitor Information Centre at (306) 634 6044.

Experience fi rst hand the inner work-ings of the mining industry.
