CHAPTER-I INTRODUCTION TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM) Quality has become one of the most impartment competitive strategic tools and many organizations have realized that it is a key for developing products and services that support continuing success. Quality systems are designed to set a clear direction for organization to follow enabling understanding involvement of employees proceeding towards a common goal. As competition increases and changes occur in the business world, we need to have a better understanding of quality concerned effect the entire organization in every competitive environment .therefore, top manager need to understand and apply quality philosophies high performance level in products and processes and face the challenges of the new global competition. Consumers demand high quality levels of products/services at reasonable prices to achieve value and customer satisfaction. There is an increasing focus on quality management in higher education the out the world. With increased competition, higher education institutions have recognized the importance of quality system implementation in maintaining effectiveness in violating business environment. Specially meeting the needs of and desires of the customers is critical and must be done in a much better and efficient manner then has been done in the past.

INTRODUCTION

TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT (TQM)

Quality has become one of the most impartment competitive strategic tools and

many organizations have realized that it is a key for developing products and services that

support continuing success. Quality systems are designed to set a clear direction for

With increased competition, higher education institutions have recognized the importance

of quality system implementation in maintaining effectiveness in violating business

environment. Specially meeting the needs of and desires of the customers is critical and

must be done in a much better and efficient manner then has been done in the past.

Meaning of Total Quality Management

TQM can be defined as: a continuously evolving management system consisting of values,

methodologies and tools, the aim of which is to increase external and internal customer

satisfaction with a reduced amount of resources.

Total Quality Management refers to management process and a set of disciplines that are

coordinated to ensure that the organization consistently meets and exceeds customer

requirements. TQM engages all divisions, departments and levels of organization. Top

management organizes all of its strategy and operations around customer needs and

develops culture with high level of employee’s participation. TQM companies focused on

the systematic management of data in all process and practices to eliminate waste and

pursue improvement.

The goal is to deliver the highest value for the customer lowest cost while achieving sustained profit and economic stability for the company. Top management must commit to a vision, often expressed in a mission statement, and align train its employees towards that common goal. To do this, cross-functional teams work on improvements that promote efficiency requirements. Long-term relationships with customers, suppliers and employees focus on quality beyond short-term profit.

QUALITY:-

Quality means fitness for use.

Quality means productivity, competitive cost, and timely delivery, total customer

satisfaction.

Quality means conformance to specification and standard.

Conformance to requirements.

Quality is what the customer says

Quality means getting everyone to do what they have agreed to do and to do it right

the first time and every time.

 TOTAL QUALITY:-

It means all the people of the organization are committed to product quality by

doing right things right, first time, every time by employing organization resource to

provide value to customer. 

TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT: -

It is the process designed to focus external/internal customer expectation

preventing problems building, commitment to quality in the workforce and

promoting to open decision making.

TOTAL:

Everyone associated with the company is involved in continuous improvement, in

all functional area, at all level.

 QUALITY:

Customer express and implied requirement is met fully.

MANAGEMENT:

Executive are fully committed

Decision in a planned way.

To maintain existing lever of quality.

To   improve existing lever of quality.

Effective utilization of resource. 

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:-

1. To find the degree of TQM implemented in the organization.

 2. To study the level of commitment of employees toward their work.

3. To find out factor influencing the commitment.

LIMITATION

Employees of the organization may hide the fact.

The management did not agree to disclose all the confidential data.

Number of respondents is very less, so clear conclusion can’t be drawn.
