USP: The audience is informed of outside information during the trailer i.e awards won; actor reviews; critic reviews, this shows the audience that the film is highly acclaimed by critics. J.K Simmons, is a fairly well known actor and Miles Teller is relatively knew which will attract a wider audience wanting to see less known actors with such amazing reviews. As well as a unique storyline, and the film being about music which isn’t as common.

Pace: The pace of the trailer changes suddenly from light hearted to more dramatic on the words ‘little trouble there’ spoken by J.K Simmons’ character. This draws the audiences attention that something is building up. It also mirrors that of the film, starting off lighter until the true nature of J.K Simmons’ character is shown.

Colour: The colour scheme for the intertitles and film title is black and white, which is similar to that of sheet music. This relates with the film as it is about a drummer in a jazz band, as well as the films title being a title from a piece of music.

Inter-titles: Inter-titles are shown throughout the trailer to let the audience know of reviews and awards rather than adding to the storyline. This makes the audience guess at the film more and makes them want to go and watch it, which is the point of a movie trailer. It also adds a stylish spin on the trailer and helps it run more smoothly. Furthermore, the inter-titles become more frequent and quicker as the trailer goes on, fitting in well with the pace of the trailer and the background music, as the music at the end quickens, so does the timing of the inter-titles. This is an interesting visual for an audience, making the trailer entertaining and memorable.

Music: The music starts off with the light background jazz music, to give the trailer a more naturalistic feel. The music then changes to fit in with the band playing in the trailer, to the actual piece titled ‘Whiplash’ which features a lot in the film. This gives the audience a taster of the type of music featured, as well as adding a jazz music feel to the trailer. Ending with a snare drum, which relates as the film is about a drummer.

USP: As well as it being a highly anticipated film, Suicide squad comes from the famous DC Comics, which is shown at the beginning of the trailer, this will attract all DC fans. As well as the all star cast: Will Smith; Margot Robbie; Jared Leto; Cara Delevingne etc. who are featured in the trailer. It also reveals the new look for the Joker character at the end.

Pace: The pace of the trailer starts slow with mostly dialog about the assembling the suicide squad. This is exiting to the audience, as it is shown to be dangerous and frightening to the characters talking. The pace quickens as the trailer goes on, showing many action scenes, and scenes in Arkham (mental hospital) which conveys the action/thriller genre of the film.

Inter-titles: Inter-titles are used towards the end of the trailer to add more about the story line, it also adds controversy ‘Justice has a bad side’, which would get audiences talking and asking more questions about it.

Music: The music is a huge factor in the trailer as it plays through out most of it, it also adds a sinister feel to the trailer which goes with the film genre. The song is a cover of the Bee Gees song ‘I started a Joke’, which is juxtaposed with the dark theme of the film. This is interesting to the audience and adds dramatic tension and gets audiences talking.

Dialog: The trailer starts out with dialog from a scene, then cuts away to different shots as that dialog continues, then cuts back to the scene with the dialog in. This explains the story to the audience in an interesting yet clear way. The trailer also consists of one liners from the characters which are effective in drawing the audience into the characters themselves more. i.e. ‘Hope you got insurance’ which shows Harley Quinn’s impulsive nature and mental instability. As well as ‘I’m not gunna kill you, I’m just gunna hurt you, really, really bad.’ Shows the evil and destructive character. This successfully lets the audience know more about each character without giving too much away into their story.

Lighting: The trailer consists mostly of dark lighting which conveys the theme of the film. It also makes certain aspects of the trailer stand out i.e Harley Quinns pink and blue hair; the jokers blue hair and red lips, highlighting key characters to the audience and gives an interesting cinematic visual.

USP: The all star cast with the likes of Hugh Grant; Colin Firth; Kiera Knightly; Liam Neeson; Alan Rickman ect. As well as the unique storyline of 19 different principle characters. These will attract more audiences to see the film.

Intertitles: Intertitles are used throughout the whole trailer to let the audience know of the storyline without having any of the actors explain it. With the confusing element of multiple story lines, no characters have a clear dialog to show what the whole film is about. The intertitles also cut up the different shots from the film, which gives an interesting visual to the audience. The intertitles at the beginning also fit in with the music to give an interesting and entertaining visual

Dialog: Funny/snappy one liners from some of the cast members are used to break up the music in the background, this adds more comedy to the trailer which fits with the romantic comedy genre. The comedy in the trailer also makes audience members want to see it more.

Interesting visuals: Similar shots of the characters in the same sort of situations are used throughout the trailer, this helps the trailer flow better and is interesting visually for the audience

Music: The song that runs throughout the trailer is a cover of ‘All you need is Love’ by The Beatles. It starts with the word ’love’ which is repeated many times. This goes with the title, and conveys the genre clearly to the audience, it also sets the mood of the trailer from the outset. As the song breaks into the chorus the pace of the advert quickens and so does the pace of the shots shown, this makes it interesting and memorable to audience members.
