Tool(s)Macromedia (now Adobe) Authorware was the primary development tool. Other tools used: Flash Graphics tools such as Photoshop and PaintShop
Pro Audio tools Sound Forge and ProTools Microsoft Word
Deployment STAR was deployed to the desktop via Internet Explorer browser from centralized server to over 30 locations worldwide over local LAN. It was administered from an in-house proprietary Learning Management System (LMS).
Other Through several productivity improvements I introduced to the development team, development hours were substantially decreased while efficiency and ROI were dramatically increased.
I worked with dozens of Sprint associates across several teams including:o instructional designerso subject matter experts (SMEs)o media and content experts
Conclusion PCS STAR was wildly successful very quickly. All metrics improved: retention increased, training time decreased and agent churn decreased as a result of the improved training STAR provided. External events and the march of technology inevitably led to the shelving of Authorware as an authoring tool at Sprint. During my last year with the eMedia team, I spearheaded the move to a more dynamic, XML-driven engine as the backbone of STAR. This engine

was subsequently perfected and deployed. Today, STAR is still in place as the Care New Hire training application.
