Requirements For Delight in God

1) To delight in the better ways of God we must hate sin and love

righteousness.

2) To delight in the better ways of God we must realize that delight in

sin is idol worship.Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5)

For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (Ephesians 5:5)

2) To delight in the better ways of God we must realize that delight in

sin is idol worship.Covetousness: An unrelenting desire for temporary pleasures, especially those pleasures possessed by others.

My beloved, flee from idolatry. (1 Corinthians 10:14)

3) To delight in the better ways of God we must obey - believing in

faith that God’s ways are actually better.

He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. (Hebrews 11:26)

4) To delight in the better ways of God we must joyfully embrace trials, suffering & major disappointments in life – trusting in the providence and sovereignty of our good God.
