Someday is Today: Druker Strikes Again!

LLS and the Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) have launched a groundbreaking collaboration to improve outcomes for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients.

The initiative, calling Beat AML, is being led by Brian Druker, MD, director of the Knight Cancer Institute. Also included in the collaboration are major technology companies: Intel, which is providing the "big data" computing technology, and Illumina, which is providing the advanced genomic sequencing. The goal is to identify the many mutations that drive AML and identify drugs that can target these mutations. The team hopes to develop a personalized therapy approach so that an appropriate and effective combination of therapies can be identified for each individual patient with AML. The collaboration was covered in The Wall Street Journal; you can also read more about it here.

Judy Lynch Makes the News!

Volunteers Still Needed: MHRM 10/13

Judy Lynch, who trains

in memory of her

daughter Katie, made

the Times Union

Newspaper this week!

She was highlighted for

her above and beyond

efforts for the Leukemia

& Lymphoma Society

through Team In

Training. Judy has raised

over $53,000 since

2009!

The humble Lynch said

“"It is so therapeutic for

me because I get so much

out of it. I'm giving to the

cause because it gives me

purpose," she says. "It

means something positive

resulted from what (Katie)

went through."

We love you Judy!! You

are an inspiration to this

Team and are so thankful

for all that you do!
