TIMELESS is an anti-corrosioncoated glass for shower enclosures. TIMELESS coating is almost invisibleand very similar to normal bare glass.

1.1 DURABILITY

• TIMELESS coating passes the EN 14428 Europeanstandard for shower enclosures. It also meets the class A durability criteria of the EN 1096 European standard (coated glass in building).

1.2 DEFECTS

• The TIMELESS coating meets the requirements of standard EN 1096-1 : acceptability criteria for defects in coated glass (spots, pinholes, punctual defects, scratches).

2.1 COATING DETECTION

• It is not easy to detect TIMELESS coating as it is very transparent. Except in the case of dual coated TIMELESS(coated on both sides of the glass), TIMELESS is normally deposited on the atmospheric side of the glass. A UV lamp can therefore be used to identify the tin side, which is opposite to the coating.

• Alternatively, to avoid confusion during installation, processors of TIMELESS are invited to apply a semi adhesivesticker on the tin side of the glass (= on the opposite side of the coating) Stickers or labels are to be removed once their purpose has been served. It is recommended that remaining residues be cleaning gently without damaging the coating.

• A dedicated coating detector is available on EDTM website (www.edtm.com) reference n°RD1680. NB: Dual coatedTIMELESS can be used in order to eliminate the risk of incorrect installation. Please contact your sales representative for more information.

2.2 HANDLING

• Always avoid fingerprints and dirt traces which would require additional cleaning of the glass.

• The glass must always be handled with clean gloves during installation and manipulation. One should take care not to scratch the glass or the coating.

2.3 TRANSPORTING FINISHED SHEETS

• Care must be taken to ensure that the coating is not damaged during transport.

• Stacks of cut sizes must be transported in boxes (recommended) or on carrying frames, and the glass must be protected:

- At the top and bottom of the stack: Protection using “CELL-AIR” type foam packing sheet- Between each sheet of glass: Protection using neutral inleaving powder; or soft, neutral (non-acid), grease-free

interlaying paper; or small non-adhesive cork separating pads (recommended),

• The stacks of standard cut sizes should be wrapped and protected.

2.4 UNPACKING

• During unpacking, care must be taken to insure that the packaging material does not scratch or damage the coating. Avoid that the glass slide against other glass or objects in order to not damage it.

2.5 ASSEMBLY

• Manipulate glass using clean gloves.

• The TIMELESS coating should be facing the interior of the shower enclosure (or the section which will be exposedto water during a shower).

• During transport and on site, it is essential that the glass is protected from dirt and splashes of material such as gravel, concrete, plaster, mortar, etc. If the surface of the glass becomes dirty, the dirt must be removed immediately before it dries, using plenty of water.

• Cleaning on-site is done using plenty of water. All dirt must be removed. A clean sponge can be used.

• Care must be taken not to damage the coating. It may be useful to use tools made of soft materials – for instance a clean plastic hammer – in order to minimize risks of damage. Avoid glass to glass contact and glass to metal contact. Lubricants which do not leave traces residue are to be used.

• Generally speaking glues adapted to glass shower enclosures can be used. In case of doubt, compatibility of theglue with the coating should be tested. If need be, please contact Building Glass Europe for the list of glues tested.

• Glue should be used only where necessary. Unnecessary traces should be removed immediately before theyharden. They can be cleaned off using a neutral product for windows and soft paper or a soft cloth, or with a clean rubber scraper. If it is allowed to dry or harden, the only way then to remove silicon is to use diluted acetone on a soft cloth (never use a sharp tool such as a razor blade).

• Seal joints can be used.

2.6 AFTER ASSEMBLY

• Clean thoroughly the glass with water.

• Do not used material such as chalk to indicate the presence of the glass. Such materials are abrasive and can damage the coating.

• If work on side has not been finished, make sure that the glass is well protected from any risk of impact and projections which could damage the coating.

3.1 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

TIMELESS is a low maintenance glass. Nevertheless, regular cleaning is necessary to maintain its good aspect and increase its life span. The frequency of cleaning depends on the utilization of the shower. It is recommenced that a thorough cleaning be performed around twice a month for regular usage.

3.2 AFTER A SHOWER

• After each shower, it is recommended that the glassbe rinsed with regular water and that afterwards a soft rubber squeegee be used to remove the little remaining water from the surface of the glass. This is the best procedure to maintain a perfect product throughout its life.

3.3 REGULAR CLEANING

• Diluted white vinegar is the ideal solution to removelimestone formation from the surface of the glass. It is recommended that such cleaning be done at least twice a month. In case of water with high level of limestone, a commercial product which works against limestone in showers such as Antikal, Cilit-Bang, or their equivalents can be used. Such anti-limescale product, or diluted vinegar, can be sprinkled over the glass surface, and left for 5 minutes before rinsing with water. Then remove excess water with squeegee.

• Neutral cleaning products usually used for cleaningshower glass are authorized for instance to remove soap residues (for example, alcohol based cleaning product for glass).

3.4 CLEANING PRECAUTIONS

• Do not use cleaning products containing abrasiveparticles. Chemical scouring liquids are also not recommended.

• Pure alcohol, acetone, acids other than vinegar, soda,strong bases and bleach are not to be used.

• Hard cleaning instruments are prohibited, such as:scouring sponges or cloths, steel wool and razor blades.
