 ConnectaUSBcableconnectedfromtheUSB(d)portonyourTimeCapsuletoacompatibleUSBprinter(ifyouwillprinttoaUSBprinter),aharddisk,orahub.
 ConnectanEthernetcablefromanyEthernetdevicetotheEthernetLAN(G)ports.
Afteryou’veconnectedthecablesforallthedevicesyouplantouse,connectthepowercordtothepowerportandplugyourTimeCapsuleintoapoweroutlet.Thereisnopowerswitch.
Important: UseonlythepowercordthatcamewithyourTimeCapsule.
WhenyouplugyourTimeCapsuleintoapoweroutlet,thestatuslightflashesgreenforonesecondandthenglowsamberwhileyourTimeCapsulestartsup.AfteryourTimeCapsulehasstartedupcompletely,thestatuslightflashesamberuntilyourTimeCapsulehasbeenupdatedwiththecorrectsettings.ThestatuslightglowssolidgreenafteryourTimeCapsuleisproperlysetupandconnectedtotheInternetoranetwork.
WhenyouconnectEthernetcablestotheEthernetports,thelightsabovethemglowsolidgreen.

2 Ifthere’smorethanonewirelessdeviceinthelist,selecttheoneyouwanttoconfigure.Ifyoudon’tseetheTimeCapsuleyouwanttoconfigure,clickRescantoscanforavailablewirelessdevices,andthenselectyourTimeCapsulefromthelist.Ifyou’remakingchangestoaTimeCapsulethathasalreadybeensetup,youmighthavetoconnecttothenetworkit’screatedbeforemakingchangestoyourTimeCapsule.

AllowingWirelessClientstoAccessYourNetworkWithoutEnteringaPasswordIfyournetworkispassword-protectedusingWPAPersonalorWPA/WPA2Personal,youcanprovidewirelessclientsaccesstoyournetworkwithoutrequiringthemtoenterthenetworkpassword.
Whenyouallowaclientaccesstoyournetwork,theclient’snameandwirelessMACaddress(orAirPortID)arestoredintheaccesscontrollistofAirPortUtilityuntilyouremovetheclientfromthelist.Youcanalsoprovide24hoursofaccess,afterwhichtimetheclientcannolongeraccessyournetwork.
Whenyougiveaclientaccesstoyourwirelessnetwork,theclientdoesn’tneedtoenterthenetworkpassword.
To allow a client to access your network without entering the network password:1 OpenAirPortUtility,selectyourTimeCapsule,andthenchooseManualSetupfromtheBaseStationmenu.Enterthepasswordifnecessary.
2 ChooseAddWirelessClientsfromtheBaseStationmenu.
3 Selecthowyouwanttheclienttoaccessthenetwork:
 SelectPINtoentertheeight-digitnumberprovidedbytheclientrequestingnetworkaccess.
 Select“Firstattempt”toallownetworkaccesstothefirstclientattemptingtojointhenetwork.
WhiletheTimeCapsulewaitsforaclienttojointhenetwork,theLEDglowsblue.

Select“Limitclient’saccessto24hours”ifyouwanttoprovidejustonedayofaccesstoyournetwork.Ifyoudon’tselectthisoption,theclienthasaccessuntilyouremovetheclientfromthelist.
UsingTimeMachinewithYourTimeCapsuleWiththeTimeMachineapplicationinMacOSX(Leopardorlater)youcanbackupeverythingonyourcomputer,includingyourphotos,music,movies,anddocuments.
AfteryousetupTimeMachine,itautomaticallybacksupyourcomputeronaregularbasis.
Ifyou’reusingMacOSXv10.5.7orlater,thefirsttimeyouconnecttoyourTimeCapsule,TimeMachineasksifyou’dliketouseittobackupyourfiles.Click“UseasBackupDisk,”andTimeMachinetakescareoftherest.
