This year, Tech was represented by three of our finest: Tony Gellerman, Dani Mehr, and Jasmine Wolters. Each works with our highest -needs students. They exemplify the characteristics of successful educators. They care about kids, they love what they do, and they build relationships with students because they understand the positive impact of getting to know students well. I can’t say enough about Tony, Dani, and Jasmine. And I can’t say enough about our Tech teaching sta. They all face many challenges each day and often find themselves struggling through those challenges, right along with their students. But the motivation and inspiration they provide for all students of all ability levels is astounding, and their perseverance is one of the greatest tools they provide their students during times of struggle. Upon returning back to my old stomping grounds of Tech High School, one aspect that has become very apparent to me is the incredible teaching staff I have the privilege of working with every day. The work of our faculty is amazing. We have motivated teachers who care about kids. They love to teach. They love to teach content. The fall season is winding down and the only fall team still competing is girls swimming and diving. Winter season is just starting, with the dance team and girls hockey, who have already started. Here are some other starting dates:

Nov.  9th- Boys basketball, Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, Gymnastics and Boys Hockey

Nov.  16th- Girls Basketball, Adapted Floor Hockey and Wrestling

Nov.  30th- Boys Swimming and Diving

FALL  SPORTS  RECAP:

Football: They finished the season 3-6. The team played hard and had to deal with some injuries that hurt the team. With many underclassmen back, look for the team to be a serious contender next year.

Volleyball: The team finished 13-13 overall and 7-5 in the CLC, good for third place. They beat Brainerd in the opening round of playoffs, but fell to number one seed, Moorhead in the quarterfinals. The team made improvements throughout the season.

Girls  Swimming  and  Diving: The swim and dive team took third place in the CLC Championships

and now are gearing up for sections. They will be held on Nov. 13th and 14th in Elk River. They are looking for some swimmers and divers to qualify for the state tournament.

Cross  Country: Both teams had good seasons. The athletes worked on improving their times. Noah Webb qualified for the state tournament on November 7th. He took 121st.

Girls  Tennis: The team had a great season. They qualified for the state tournament and ended up as consolation champions. They lost to 19-time defending state champions Edina, 1-6. They pushed them hard, but fell short. They then defeated Delano and Rochester Mayo to win the consolation title. They had 3 athletes qualify for the state individual tournament. Seventh grader, Ashley Tarrolly won the section singles title. She lost her matches at state, but gained valuable experience. Sisters, Taylor and Katelyn Tarrolly teamed up to win the section doubles title and also qualified for the state tournament. They finished as the state runners-up, falling to another sister team from Benilde-St. Margaret’s. They finished higher than any other Tech individuals and both will be back next year. It was a great accomplishment for them.

Boys  Soccer: The team had a tremendous year this year. They made it to the state tournament and won in the quarter-finals, beating #3 seed Park Center, 2-0. That game was played in snow, wind and cold, but the boys did a fantastic job. They fell in the state semi-finals to East Ridge and then tied Minneapolis Washburn for 3rd place. It was a great year for the team.

Girls  Soccer: The team was young this year and they finished 2-15 overall. They lose some good seniors, but will have a lot of girls back and will look to improve next season.

Drama: This fall’s play is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. It will be held on Nov. 12th- Nov. 15th. The cast have been working very hard and are ready to put on a great show!

Music: All 3 music programs are gearing up for their concerts. There are several dates concerts coming up. They will be listed later.

Math  Team: They had their first competition and finished second. They are looking to defend their CLC title this year and make it to the state tournament.

Last Wednesday, Tech's PLTW, Auto and Robotic courses all took a field trip to Ziegler in St. Cloud and Alexandria Technical College. Students actively engaged in career exploration by looking into different Technical Careers offered at Alexandria Technical College. Students explored Careers in Construction, Machining, Diesel Mechanics, Motor Sport Vehicles, Mechatronics and Mechanical Drafting.

At the end of the day there was a scholarship that was drawn for Alexandria Technical College for 1 student who partook in the day. Hunter Slagstad, a 9th Grader here at Tech High School won the Scholarship!

All in all it was a great day and students had a ton of fun exploring different Technical Careers.
