So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own.

There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.

Dear Friends,

You might recall that last month I shared that Dan & I, with Jack & Izzie (our dogs) were go-ing to embark on an adventure in camping. Our adventure began one Sunday afternoon in early June when we went tent-camping with our brand new tent (you know, the new tent we’d never put up before?). The weather was beautiful and the sky was filled with turkey vultures. As we were attempting to erect the unfamiliar tent, there were so many vultures circling overhead that Dan thought they were just waiting for him to drop! After some false-starts, the tent was erected. Every day was beautiful! And to everyone’s amazement, I really and truly loved

the camping experience! And there were no ticks to worry about at all!! What a relief that was. I was vigil and ready to do battle with them, but nothing never happened.

Well, it never happened on the camping trip, that is. Fast forward to the drive down to Madison for Annual Con-ference. The readiness for tick-battles behind me, imagine how surprised I was to find something crawling in my hair. I’d noticed earlier a tender spot behind my ear and figured I’d run into the cupboard or something (I do that on a regular basis). But on the drive south, I pulled on something in my hair and out came a bug. I threw it on the floor of the car. YUCK! It was totally unexpected to find a bug clinging to my hair. When I mentioned it to Darlene and Yvette, they determined that we needed to stop and try to identify it. And when we did? Yep, I found it on the car floor and it was a deer tick!! A tick!!! In the car???? In my hair??? Who ’d a thunk it!

When I was ready and prepared to do tick-battle on the camping trip, I was on guard. But when I was driving to Conference, I wasn’t at all in tick-battle mode. That re-minds me of spiritual battles. While we were camping, I wore my “tick-awareness-armor” to protect me. But on the drive to Madison, I never gave ticks a moment’s thought. I was no longer wearing my “armor”.

We need to always be ready for spiritual battles, especially when life is good, filled with “lollipops & roses”, going along with a song on the lips and the heart filled with sunshine. The armor of God is illustrated in Ephesians 6:10-18, and I urge you to read it. Verse 18 reads “Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason, keep alert and never give up; pray al-ways for all God's people.” Pray, keep alert, never give up, and pray!! I must always be prepared for spiritual battle, because I don’t want to be pounced upon by my ad-versary, the devil, whose greatest desire is to destroy God-followers (1 Peter 5:8). And I certainly don’t want to be nibbled upon by ticks!!! How about you?

Lining up for the brats. YUM!!

Hmmm, which desert? So many choices.

Un-official profit results:

Rummage Sale: $870

Brat Fry: $535

Congratulations, and thank you eve-ryone who helped out.

Through all 26 tix, it was still a great experience. Eating lots of sand was great too. I got to pump the well for 14 people to brush their teeth, three

times a day. We drank lots of water had great food and learned about God in many fun ways. It was cool sleeping in a big treehouse built by the person who baptized me, Pastor Wendell Williams. Thank you for helping send me to camp! Breanna Rowe

Summer Camp 2017 The theme this year from camp was an-chored. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure, Hebrews 6:19. Camp has taught me so much this year that there are fake promises and real promises. God’s promises are 110% real and he keeps his promises and that if we believe we will go to heaven. Every morning we had Christian growth and during this time I got to ask questions and learn and grow in being a Christian. At night we have devotions and

there we got to listen and learn, one night I learned that people might seem like they are above you but God is way above them and he will make sure everything will be alright.

We had so many activities, the first day I was there we had to do trust exercises to make us all feel like a family. Day 2, we went zip lining, bik-ing, and swam. Day 3, we had a challenge against another village and we all played the hunger games and then we went and did root beer relays where it’s a relay race with root beer. Day 4, we did challenge courses and we became a big knot and we tried to unknot it and then we went and played volleyball. Day 5, we had to find all of the counselors and we had to get signatures and do quests. The last day we did all camp sweep and then we sang songs and we took pic-tures and headed home.

I would like to thank the York Center Sunday school for the financial support and for helping me be able to go to camp and have a great time.

Haven Peroshek

This year at camp my friend Taya came with me. We had so much fun! Right away in the morning we would wake up and go jump in the lake and if you did this every morning you became part of the polar bear

club. And I DID IT!! Then you get to do fun games most of the day. You also get to do a cook out for one meal a day. I also get to have a canteen time, which you get to buy souvenirs and candy. My favorite part was devotions where you get to sing about the Lord around a

campfire. Thank you so much to the York Center Sunday school for helping send me camp. Hope Peroshek

We should always endeavor to make those who can’t be with us at church know that they are still part of us. Sometimes we find ourselves dealing with difficult and

challenging seasons when it’s not easy to be out and about. Perhaps it’s due to the aging process or debilitating illness. Let’s remember to always be present with our prayers, phone calls, cards, and visits. We are the body of Christ, members of one another. Jesse Rowe and Lori Rowe were among 22 participants who traveled to Red Cliff Indian Reservation (Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa) June 18-24 to assist the tribe with house repairs, house painting, and ramp building. We did work at 11 different homes and built new relationships with those we worked for. Jesse and Lori helped paint the home of Joyce Livingston as well as painting the garden shed that Lori helped build last year as well as replacing the floor of a back deck of Annie Lewago and James Morris.

Jesse was very excited to go, had fun, and learned some new skills that she wants to take back with her on a re-turn trip back to Red Cliff next year. She also met a lot of great people, including a new friend, Destiny, from Sheboygan, WI.

"It's such a rewarding experience to be able to help enrich and fulfill the basic needs of people, spread the love of Jesus through action, and see old friends each year. I think this has to be my seventh year or so at Red Cliff and it's so great to make new friends each year, said Lori. Jesse said, “On our mission trip we were able to com-plete 6 large projects and multiple small projects. I really enjoyed helping others and meeting new people. I most en-joyed getting to know the native culture of the Red Cliff Indians. I hope to go on the mission trip again next year. I thank everyone who helped out at the soup and salad breakfast that helped pay for my trip.”

Destiny and Jesse were among the

members of the painting crew that

painted Joyce's whole house.

Lori, painting Joyce Livingston’s shed, which Lori helped build last

year.

The painting crew pictured with Joyce (Lori took the picture) after

we were done. Joyce was so happy (in tears), so thankful to

have her house painted as she is wheelchair bound and no one

else can do it for her.

LIBERTY VILLAGE VBS... An American Faith and Freedom Tour

Sunday, July 23rd-27th from 5:15-8:30PM York Center UMC

Join us on a historical adventure for preschoolers (ages 3) through sixth grade. We'll gather at LIBERTY SQUARE to or-

ganize and participate in a continuing skit performed by a colonial serving girl to President and Mrs. Washington and a

pushy colonial lady trying to see the President.

At UNCLE SAM THE STORY MAN, groups will hear an exciting continuing story, "Trouble In Washington". Patriotic

and Praise and Worship music are featured in a red, white and blue music center called KEEP AMERICA SINGING.

Learn how to become a believer in Jesus while visiting with the famous flag maker, Betsy Ross and making stars to form

a giant flag mural at OLD GLORY HEADQUARTERS. No one will be able to resist early American treats served in a

colonial inn called THE BOSTON TEA PARTY.

Five Bible stations represent locations in LIBERTY VILLAGE where students will learn how to become strong believers

in Jesus. They will enjoy meeting American Patriots, memorizing a scripture verse, hearing a Bible story and completing

a craft:

1) PLYMOUTH PLANTATION/THANKFUL AMERICANS...Meeting Jesus with Priscilla Alden.

2) FRONTIER CABIN/ADVENTUROUS AMERICANS...Knowing Jesus with Rebecca Boone.

3) COLONIAL HOME/REVOLUTIONARY AMERICANS...Growing In Jesus with Martha Washington.

4) INDEPENDENCE HALL/FOUNDING AMERICANS...Serving Jesus with Elizabeth the serving girl.

5) WHITE HOUSE ATTIC/PRESIDING AMERICANS...Telling About Jesus with Abigail Adams.

Students will learn about faith in Christ by using the history of our nation as a backdrop. In the United States, freedom

to worship Jesus and the privilege of living in America means so much. This will be a heart pounding fun week we will

never forget! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
