Principal’s Message
Presentation Day
Last year it became evident that due to the growing number of students at Thurgoona Public School it would be necessary to
make changes to the format of Presentation Day. Unfortunately after investigating the size of available venues it became
apparent that there was not a venue large enough to hold students and families. This year there will be a separate Infants
Presentation and a Primary Presentation. They will be held on the same day although at different times, to enable parents
and family to attend both events.
Infants Presentation Day – Friday 8 December 9:30 am held at Thurgoona Public School
Primary Presentation Day – Friday 8 December 12:00 pm held at the Albury Entertainment Centre
Thank you for understanding our decision and supporting this necessary change. I am hopeful that once the new hall is built
at James Fallon High School it will be a suitable venue for our future presentation ceremonies.
Remembrance Day
This Friday at 10.45 the whole school shall be assembling on the front lawn of the school to acknowledge Remembrance
Day. Parents, carers and community members are welcome to attend.
Jack’s Walk for Diabetes
Next Tuesday 14 November the school shall be participating in the JDRF One Walk for a world without type 1 diabetes. We
hope to help Jack Skahill raise awareness and $500 for this worthy cause. Jack shall speak to students about his diabetes
journey before the event.
Please see page 4 for more details.

Kira Howell had her hair cut last week to support Canteen
Thurgoona Public School—Providing the foundation for life-long learning
Kira Howell—Thankyou
On Friday 3 November, in front of the entire
school, I cut 48cm off my hair. The hair was
sent to Pantene (Beautiful Lengths) – which
they will then use to make wigs for cancer
patients.
During the weeks leading up to the big hair
cut, I sold Canteen bandanas at Thurgoona
Public School. Students and staff bought 360
bandanas, which raised a massive $1800 for
Canteen!
I also collected sponsorship which is going to
be donated to the Albury Wodonga Cancer
Centre. At last count, I had received $580.55!
I would like to thank everybody who helped
out or donated during the past few weeks –
special thanks to Jo Hallows, who cut my hair
on the day. I would especially like to thank
my amazing family for all their love and
support.
