School Profile
Three Oaks High School (TOSH) is situated in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. TOSH serves a number of communities in the surrounding area. The school is comprised of a cafeteria, a gymnasium, a library, a resource centre, five science labs, Career and Technical Educational programs (culinary, automotive, welding, carpentry, woodworking, robotics and aerospace), an arts and theater program, a Cooperative Education course for grade 11 and 12 students, a French immersion program and over 140 academic classes. The school boasts a large variety of extracurricular sports, such as rugby, golf, soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, track and field, cross country, field hockey, softball and baseball. Within the school there are a number of councils that students are encouraged to participate to enrich their high school experience. These councils include student leadership, athletic, music and student government. Our annual TOAD (Three Oaks Activity Day) is a fun day designed to interest all of the student body. Other programs in the school strive to provide volunteerism opportunities through our Free the Children Group and Leadership classes. There are many other clubs and groups to join. At our school we have an AXE Outlet which is a student run store opened during lunch hours. It provides basic school supplies and various items of school spirit wear (sweatshirts, etc.). We acknowledge academic achievement and positive attitude on a regular basis. The school staff and students take our commitment to the community seriously and support a number of charitable organizations and are involved in a number of service projects. Our school community strongly supports school events by participating, volunteering and donating. We keep our community informed with a monthly newsletter, Journal Pioneer and social media. Three Oaks has been number one on the former Western School Board's renovation list since 1996. In the fall of 2015 a Three Oaks Senior High School renovation committee was appointed and met for their first meeting on September 16, 2015. Our 40 year old facility will see work commence in the fall of 2016. The construction is expected to take 2 years and 15 million dollars has been allocated for the project. The majority of the project will involve the replacement of mechanical systems but will also involve improving the interior of the building and changes to support programming. We are looking forward to the completion of the project which will allow us to support and educate youth in East Prince for the next 40 years.
