ATTITUDES TO SCHOOL SURVEY Years 4 - 6 Beginning this week, our Grade 4-6 students will be completing the Annual Attitudes to Schooling Survey. This survey provides valuable information to assist us with our future planning. It gives students the chance to share what they are happy with and areas for improvement. This is the first year the survey has been expanded to include grade 4s. Students will complete the online survey during class time at some time over the next 3 weeks. We will share the results with you once they become available later in the year. SCHOOL DROP OFF AND EARLY PICK UP Please make sure your child gets to school on time by 8:55am. Children who arrive late must collect a ‘late pass’ from the office and be marked as present on the office computer system before going to their classroom. It is very disruptive for students and teachers when children arrive late. We ask that parents ensure their children are at school at least 5 minutes before school starts each day. On most school days, the first lesson of the day is reading instruction. If your child is always late to school they are continually missing some of the most important educational opportunities. SCHOOL GATES Parents are reminded the school gates are locked at 9:15am and unlocked at 3:15pm. The school gates are locked each day to ensure the safety of the children in our care. We try our best to ensure these times are adhered to. We ask parents to please be patient if we are a few minutes late in unlocking the gates in the afternoon. ISSUE NO. 7 29th May 2017

Dear School Community,

MAINTENANCE WORK IN BACK CAR PARK AND BASKETBALL COURT

The maintenance work in the back car park has now been completed and I’d like to

thank all our families for their patience with the disruption this work has caused. The two

buildings in the car park have now been connected to the storm water system.

The basketball posts and backboards needed to be replaced because of safety concerns.

This has been a much longer process than we had anticipated but the end is now in sight.

All the preparation work has been completed and we are hopeful that the new posts and

backboards will be in place before the end of this week.

Excellence in P.E. Award

The scores for last week’s PE lessons were given by our

visiting AFL coaches.

The winner of last week’s Excellence in PE Award was:

2/3M!

Congratulations 2/3M. Well done!

Inter-School Sport: Thomastown PS v

Kingsbury It was fabulous to see all teams working together and

continuing to display great sportsmanship. I am

particularly proud of the football team for working

co-operatively and showing solid support for one

another on the field.

Please note that the results from Friday’s games can

also be found on display on the doors near the library

leading to the BER building.

Next week: Thomastown v William Ruthven (Home

game!)

District Cross Country: Wednesday

District Cross Country for the 3rd year in a row!

Well done! Great to see that all your hard work paid

off!

We have about 11 children who have qualified for the

next level – Division. Once the names have been

confirmed, I will let you know. Training will need to

continue for these athletes!

were allocated. Points allo-

cation for the Excellence in PE award will

resume this week.

Inter-School Sport: Thomastown

PS v William Ruthven Once again, all our students performed well and worked

co-operatively in ISS. All teachers reported great

sportsmanship by our players, which is great to hear.

Congratulations to everyone for trying their best and

for being such wonderful representatives of TPS.

Next week: Our Lady of the Way (Away game)

Since Our Lady of the Way does not field an AFL

football team, only Tee-Ball; Soccer and Netball teams

will be travelling on the bus this week.

possible) starting at 1:30. Children are asked to refrain

from eating their lunch until after our training session.

Tuesday from 3.30 - 4.30pm.

unfinished assignments. Teachers will be available to help your children.

Lunch Time Activities On Wednesday the 24th of May, the lunch time activity was held on the cricket pitch. As

it was the first week, we played cricket. It was a very surprising game. I was so pleased

to see 15 people attend this activity. We broke them into two teams: Grade 1 and 3 and

Grade 2 and 4. The scores were more surprising than what I thought.

The scores were: Grade 1/3’s 6 runs and Grade 2/4’s 5 runs. The winners were Zahra 1/2C,

Abdulmalik 2/3M, Dion 1/2C, Yasmin 1/2C, Jackson 2/3C, Bella 3/4Y and Bond 1/2W.

On behalf of the S.L.S.T. I would like to thank Miss Henning and Mrs Di Palma for supporting this

activity.

Next week’s activity will be soccer!

meeting other parents.
