Message from Mrs Dollings

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to all parents, carers and children! I hope you had a wonderful summer and have now settled

back in to the routine of term time.

Thank you so much to those of you have brought in items for our OPAL challenge! As mentioned in the last news-

letter, the points will be added up at the end of September and there will be prizes for the children who collect

the most points in each class, as well as a wrist band for every entry received.

There are lots of things planned for this year which should give you more opportunities to come in and see what

we’re doing, share in your child’s learning and also to see some of our policies in action. I will add new dates to

the Key Dates section as soon as they are decided. We are in the process of reviewing and updating our behav-

iour policy so that it is in line with the Restorative Approach. We have started to introduce some of the key con-

cepts to the children and will let you know when the new policy is complete.

I met with our vice Chair of Governors, Emma Lowes, this week and we looked at the uniform policy. We feel

that this is over complicated and difficult for staff to enforce and for parents to ensure their child is wearing the

correct uniform for their gender and year group. We would like to simplify this and would love to hear your

views. For instance, one suggestion could be to allow navy or grey trousers and skirts. Please get in touch and let

us know what you think!

Safeguarding

We spent some time on one of our training days last week refreshing and revisiting our

knowledge about how to keep your children safe in school.

Attendance

We have recently introduced some new incentives to improve attendance at our school. Our school target is 97% but unfortunately at the moment our attendance is only 95.24%.

Did you know that being 15 minutes late each day is the same as missing two weeks of school over the year? Lateness is just as serious as non-attendance and could also lead to a Fixed Penalty Notice. The start of the school day is an im-portant time for children to develop their social skills with their peers, as well as preparing them for their learning.

Building work at the Grange site

We are excited to announce that starting Monday 17

th September, building work will

commence at the Grange site. This will in-volve repairs to walls, floors and also replace-ment of some windows. This work will mean that there is some dis-ruption to our car park and to certain class-room areas. Every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of staff and children at all times. The staff have been extremely busy over the summer holidays painting, decorating and enhancing the learning environment too!

Please feel free to arrange a time to pop in and

see how fantastic it looks!

Our Golden Rules are Ready, Respectful and Safe

Times Table Rockstars

We had a fantastic launch, with

the teachers, or ‘Band Manag-

ers’ rocking their new looks! All

the children have logins and

can access the games via the website (https://

ttrockstars.com/login2) or the app, which is free

to download.

Home Learning

Children from years 1 to 6 will bring home a learning log today with a wide choice of ac-tivities for them to choose from to complete at home. We would like them to complete at least one task really well but would love them to do more. We will be rewarding any-one who goes over and above with their home learning.

Hot Chocolate Friday

These children were chosen by their

teachers to come to Hot Chocolate Fri-

day for going over and above this week :

Harry G, Paige W, Mercedez W, Emily W

Kennedi C, Scarlett F,

Harley B

ClassDojo

We have started to use Classdojo

to reward positive behaviour and

the children are really enjoying it.

Watch out for your invitation to

check out your children’s scores

from home.

School Dinners

A reminder that school dinner

money for KS2 children has now

increased to £2.05 a day from

September 2018 which is £10.25

each week.
