Monday, August 10. A private memorial service was held.
May the presence of Jesus and the power of His resurrection bring comfort and strength
to the families now sorrowing.
CHURCH RE-OPENING - PHASE 4
The phase 4 rules state that we can accommodate up to 30% of our sanctuary seating
capacity. Our sanctuary has been arranged to accommodate this, while observing
physical distancing. Greeters will be on hand at each entrance to welcome you and
answer questions. There will be additional seating in the Fellowship Hall to view the live
stream on the screen. Family groups can sit together in the same row; however, three
empty chairs need to be left between family groups. We will continue to use multiple
entrances to minimize congestion in the foyer. We ask that you use the same door when
entering and exiting the building. Bathrooms will be available for use with enhanced
cleaning and physical distancing guidelines to be followed. We will not be serving coffee
to reduce congestion in the foyer. We thank you for your cooperation.
Just inside each entrance hand sanitizer will be available to be used by all who come
in. There will also be offering envelopes and bulletins for you to pick up on your way in.
Tithes and Offerings: If you wish to make a donation we ask that you place your
offering in the baskets on your way out. You can also continue contributing by direct
deposit, mail-in or drop off.

4. The Library is OPEN! We are excited to be reopening the library! Pop by to grab
a few books for your late summer reading. A few things to note:
- Only a few people will be allowed in the library at once in order to follow
social distancing protocols.
- Please return all overdue books: if you are unable to drop off the books,
call 204-362-6784 or email [email protected] to make other
arrangements. We are looking forward to seeing you all again!
5. SEAN CLASS: SEAN (“Study by Extension for All Nations”) course to be offered in Sep-
tember if enough people are interested. The SEAN course is a series of 6 lesson
books on the Life of Christ based on the gospel of Matthew and the book of Acts,
combining lessons for home study with group discussion. The lessons are arranged
in units; each unit being a week's work. After each unit there is a group meeting
during which the lesson is discussed. The course works through the whole book of
Matthew and references the other gospels as we go along. The last book focuses on
the book of Acts, looking at the spread of the gospel and the mission trips that were
taken. The cost of taking the course is only the cost of the books which is $30.00 per
book x 6 books. We go through one book in September-December, and the next in
January-March. Not everyone who starts the course will be able to complete it
because of life events changes, but if you'd like to know your bible better and think
you might be able to take on a 3 year commitment, this is an excellent opportunity
for you to grow in your bible knowledge and in your confidence and faith in God and
in your strength in the word as a follower of Christ. If you'd like to sign up, please
contact James Hildebrand, at 204-325-4115, or call the church office at 325-7667.
6. Please continue to pray for the Pastoral Search Committee. Committee members
are Jerry Friesen (Chair), John Fehr, Jon Dueck, Dane Froese (Vice Chair) and Ruth
Wiebe.

Pastor of Discipleship Candidate
Introduction Summary
T h e P a s t o r a l S e a r c h
Committee would like to
introduce you, the con-
gregation, to Philip & Frances
Mantler, whom we have
invited to candidate for the
Discipleship Pastor position
here at the WEMMC. They
plan to be with us in person
from August 30 through
September 6. This will give us two opportunities to hear Philip share
about his call to ministry, to share his passion for discipleship, and
to hear him share the word of God with us.
Philip graduated from Providence Theological Seminary in May of
2020 with a Master of Divinity Degree. He is a certified general
accountant by trade and has worked in that field, as well as volun-
teering on numerous non-profit boards over the years. Even though
he is just now pursuing full-time church ministry, he has been very
involved in church ministry over the years. He has been involved in
teaching and leading small group Bible studies, giving leadership to
hymn sing worship services, preaching on Sunday mornings, serving
as an Elder Board member, serving as treasurer, serving regularly as
worship leader for Sunday morning services, just to name a few. He
has been quite involved in five different churches in different cities
as his work would take them from one place to the next.
As already alluded to, they have lived in multiple locations in BC and
are currently living in Penticton, where they attend the Penticton
Alliance Church. Philip and Frances have been married for 39 years
and their children are grown and living on their own.
