In English, we have been reading traditional stories and have retold them through drama and in writing. We have focused on the use of capital letters for tnames of people, places, days of the week and the personal pronoun 'I'. In phonics, we have been consolidating the graphemes and tricky words taught over recent weeks.have focused on the graphemes ai, ee, igh, oa, ar, or, ur, oi, er whilst Year One have focused on the graphemes ay, ou, ea, ue, aw, au. Ask your child some very unusual planting taking place in class one. Can your child tell you their prediction?
CLASS 3 In maths, Year 5 have been converting fractions to decimal fractions and vice versa. Year 4 concentrating on fractions of a number in Power Maths we have also been working hard practising our times tables ready for the Times table check after the half term holiday.
In English, apostrophes of possession has been our focus in grammar, and we are beginning to write an biography following our research about Neil Armstrong Ask your child about the planets in our solar and their orbit.

It has been a particularly busy week for our Y6s this week as they have taken their KS2 SATs tests each morning. They are absolutely delighted to have completed them and we are all so proud of their mature attitude and approach to the lead up and to the tests themselves. Well done to you all! Thank you for providing your child/ren with sun cream and sun hats this week in school. We do spend lots of time learning and playing outside in the summer term and particularly when the weather is warm so wearing sun cream is so important. Headteacher Recruitment On Monday and Tuesday of next week, a panel of governors, our Local Authority and DioceseAdvisers will be conducting interviews for the Headteacher role at Goldsborough and Sicklinghall. The process will take place at both schools and will involve a series of activities designed to assess each candidate's suitability for the role. We shall communicate the outcome of these interviews as soon as we are able. Please note that governors would need to liaise with the successful candidate's current school before making the appointment public and, therefore, we may not be in a position to announce the successful candidate until later this term. Parking A reminder to parents and all family members dropping off and picking up at school of the following requests:
1. Please avoid parking close to the pillars at all times. Buses and large vehicles require a large turning circle and cannot get through the village if vehicles are parked beyond the driveway close to the pillars.
