STUDENT REPORTS

The mid-year reports will be sent home on Wednesday, 28

June 2017. The reports provide a snapshot of the progress

your child has made in each of the curriculum areas

covered in the first half of the year. Teacher assessments

are based on a wide variety of tools that we use to

determine your child’s progress. The reports should provide

an accurate summary of how your child is currently

performing.

SCHOOL REVIEW

Every four years Victorian government schools are required

to undertake an evaluation of their performance with a

view to planning for the future. We are currently involved in

this process and reviewing our work for the period 2014 to

2017. At the end of the process we will be able to celebrate

our many achievements and focus on areas that we believe

that we could strengthen. An important part of this process

is seeking the opinions of our parent community. The

review focuses on five broad topics and they are:

1. Student achievement, wellbeing and engagement

2. Excellence in teaching and learning

3. Community engagement and learning

4. Professional leadership

5. Positive climate for learning

If you have any thoughts in relation to these areas I invite

you to write to me by Friday 23rd June, including your

name and contact details, so that we can take your ideas

into consideration.

ATTENDANCE and PUNCTUALITY Daily school attendance is important for all children and young people to succeed in education and to ensure they don’t fall behind both socially and developmentally. Children and young people who regularly attend school and complete Year 12 or an equivalent qualification have better health outcomes, better employment outcomes, and higher incomes across their lives. It is important that children develop habits of regular attendance at an early age.

School participation is important as it maximises life opportunities for children and young people by providing them with education and support networks. School helps people to develop important skills, knowledge and values which set them up for further learning and participation in their community.

Punctuality is also a key contributor to your child’s development and welfare. It can be quite distressing for a child to enter a classroom late to find their peers already on task. Not only is it difficult for the child it is also disruptive to the class and teacher who then needs to repeat instructions to the late student. While we understand that this is sometimes unavoidable it should not become a habit. Unfortunately, in recent weeks we have had some parents who are dropping their children off late but not accompanying them into school.

If you do drop your child at school late we ask that you either sign them in at the office or call us to advise of their late arrival.

END OF TERM 2 – 2.30PM DISMISSAL We have two weeks of term remaining and have had a very busy and productive term and I’m sure all of the children are looking forward to the two week break so that they can recharge their batteries in readiness for a big Term 3. During the last week of Term you will receive a Mid-year Report which will detail how your child has performed throughout the first half of the year. Please note that on Friday, 30 June 2017 the students will be dismissed from assembly at 2.30pm.
