Battle of San Jacinto

This war would eventually lead to additional large amounts of land being annexed to the U.S.

Texas was not annexed until 1845, nine years after the actual battle.

This was due the controversy over the slavery, the North did not want to be overpowered in Congress.

This is the Treaty of Velasco, which was signed by Santa Anna after the victory at San Jacinto. It was supposed to officially give Texas independence, but Mexican officials did not immediately recognizes it.
