Social media reaches all aspects of our lives, why not use what’s available to help promote your research, find like-minded colleagues and keep up-to-date about what’s going on your field of research.

The University of Portsmouth encourages its researchers to archive their research outcomes, including conference papers and journal articles, in Parade, the institutional repository. Papers can then be read on Open Access terms. Different publishers have different opinions on whether articles and papers should be freely available on the web, for instance through institutional repositories.

Sherpa/Romeo website is a searchable database of publisher's policies regarding the self- archiving of journal articles on the web and in Open Access repositories.
