Register for Trips August 18th: Center for Puppetry Arts, Atlanta, GA The Center for Puppetry Arts opened to the public on September 23, 1978, when Kermit the Frog and his creator Jim Henson cut the ceremonial ribbon. Today it is the largest American non-profit organization solely dedicated to the art of puppet theater. The Center has been recognized both nationally and internationally as an organization for excellence. The Center for Puppetry Arts' mission is to inspire imagination, education and community through the global art of puppetry. Our visit will include a guided tour as well as a professional puppet show. Cost of the trip includes admission, show and transportation. Please extra money for breakfast prior to the trip and a late lunch after the trip. $20. Payable to the AAB. Friday, August 18 • 7am - 5pm. August 25th: Southern Museum of Flight, Birmingham, AL The Southern Museum of Flight is one of the largest aviation museums in the Southeast, is dedicated to presenting civilian, military, and experimental aircraft and memorabilia from the earliest history of powered flight. The 75,000 square foot facility houses over 90 aircraft, as well as engines, models, artifacts, photographs, and paintings. In addition, the Southern Museum of Flight is home to the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame with over 65 biographical plaques presenting Alabama aviation history through collective biography. Cost of the trip includes admission and transportation. Please bring extra money for lunch. $15. Payable to the AAB. Friday, August 25 • 7am - 5pm. September 22nd: Old Cahawba Archaeological Site, Orrville, AL Cahawba was once Alabama’s state capital (1819-1826) and a thriving antebellum river town. It became a ghost town shortly after the Civil War. Today it is an important archaeological site and a place of picturesque ruins. Nature has reclaimed much of Old Cahawba, but historians and archaeologists from the Alabama Historical Commission are working hard to uncover Cahawba’s historic past and to create a full time interpretive park. Our trip will include a fully guided wagon tour. The cost of the trip includes admission and transportation. Please bring extra money for lunch. $15. Payable to the AAB. Friday, September 22 • 8am - 4pm. REGISTRATION BEGINS AUGUST 7TH! September 29th: SIFAT Around the World and Global Feast, Lineville, AL The idea of SIFAT (Servants in Faith and Technology) was conceived in 1976 when Ken and Sarah Corson and their four children moved to Bolivia to be pastors of a church. Realizing that the homesteaders there needed more than spiritual nourishment, Ken and Sarah began to work in integrated development with the people of the village. In 1979, the Corsons returned to Alabama and established SIFAT. Around the World is an interactive day-trip where we are provided with an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities with an international perspective, while focusing on the geography and cultural studies of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The goal is to help people from different countries, cultures and social classes understand each other and work together. We will conclude our visit with a global feast. The cost of the trip includes admission, transportation and lunch. $35. Payable to the AAB. Friday, September 29th • 7:45am - 3pm. REGISTRATION BEGINS AUGUST 7TH!
