BILL CUNNINGHAM Pride in the Park Co-Chair

Bill Cunningham is a 1966 Deer Park High School graduate as well as a nationally recognized broadcaster, veteran attorney and a business entrepreneur. He is the host of “The Bill Cunningham Show,” Tribune Broadcasting’s nationally syndicated daytime talk show.

Bill and his wife, his high school sweetheart, the Honorable Penelope R. Cunningham of the Ohio Court of Appeals, both grew up in the Cincinnati area. Bill was inducted into the local basketball hall of fame, and was named one of the top 100 high school basketball players of all time. They have one son and two grandchildren.

He is a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati and the University of Toledo College of Law.

ROGER STAUBACHRoger grew up in Silverton, Ohio and attended St. John the Evangelist School. He then went on to a legendary career at Purcell High School and graduated in the Class of 1960. After a year of prep school at New Mexico Military Institute he entered the Unites States Naval Academy in Annapolis,

Maryland. At the Naval Academy he won the 1963 Heisman Trophy, the most prestigious award in all of college football. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Staubach joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1969 and played with the club during all 11 seasons of his NFL career. He led the team to the Super Bowl in five of those 11 seasons, four times as the starting quarterback. He led the Cowboys to Super Bowl championships in Super Bowl VI and Super Bowl XII. Staubach was named Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl VI, becoming the first of four players to win both the Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl MVP along with Jim Plunkett, Marcus Allen and Desmond Howard. He was named to the Pro Bowl six times during his 11 year NFL career.

Staubach retired from the NFL as the second highest rated passer of all time at 83.4 (behind only Otto Graham) and was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985. During his NFL career he earned the nicknames of “Roger the Dodger,” for his scrambling abilities and “Captain Comeback” for his fourth quarter game-winning heroics. He led the Cowboys to 23 game winning drives, with 17 of those in the last 2 minutes or in overtime. After football Roger went on to a very successful career in real estate forming The Staubach Company. He married his childhood sweetheart Marianne (nee Hoobler) Staubach a native of Deer Park, Ohio.
