MONSIGNOR FRANCIS MCGANN Our beloved retired pastor, Fr. Frank, who has most re-cently been serving as Senior Priest in Residence at St. Joseph Parish in Needham, has recently moved to Regi-na Cleri Residence in Boston, a home for retired priests. He is always happy to receive cards and notes from pa-rishioners of St. Eulalia. We have promised him our prayers and warm thoughts. His address is:

MEMORIAL SHRINE AND BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE During the month of November, you are welcome to hon-or your beloved deceased by placing their framed photo in our memorial shrine located in the foyer. The shrine will be available for the photo display during the month of November. You will also find at the shrine a Book of Remembrance. CATHOLIC APPEAL UPDATE
As of November 2, we have pledges of $112,200 (99%) from 321 donors toward our goal of $113,725. If you have not yet made a pledge to the 2018 Catholic Ap-peal, it is not too late. Can you help us meet our goal? As we near year-end, if you have made a pledge for 2018, please check to complete any unpaid balances as this will affect our parish rebate. We ask God's blessings for your generosity each year.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL BINS The Society of St. Vincent de Paul responded to our calls regarding the offensive signage on their collection bins located in our parking lot. The bins, which collect clothing and shoes for those in need, have been replaced with new bins which have updated signage. We are most grateful to the St. Vincent de Paul for their quick and courteous response. ~Fr. Jim

BE LIKE BRIT
"They love us so much and everyone is so happy. They love what they have and they work so hard to get no-where, yet they are all so appreciative. I want to move here and start an orphanage myself." ~ the late Britney Gengel ~text to her Mom
This Thanksgiving season, we would like to give thanks for all our blessings and support BeLikeBrit by collect-ing the wish list items that help them to sustain the or-phanage and care for their 66 beautiful orphans. If you
would like to read more about the BeLikeBrit Orphan-age and all their amazing work, please check out this link, https://belikebrit.org/. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Stephanie Rogers at [email protected]. You will find bins for your dona-tion in the back of the church or at the doors as you en-ter for Faith Formation. We will be collecting until this weekend, November 18.
THE GIVING TREE
“Here I am Lord: Saying ‘Yes’ to God’s Call.” ~1 Sam-uel 3-4
The spirit of Christmas giving comes alive at St. Eulalia Parish at Giving Tree time. Our tree will go up on the weekend of November 24-25. The suggested giving limit is $35. Gifts are due back by Sunday, December 9. FAQs about the Giving Tree:
Q: How come there are so many requests for adult backpacks? We have one organization that is a 140-bed facility that takes care of homeless individuals as they transition from being in-hospital to back out on their own. These backpacks are a vital necessity for them so that they may carry their medications and a notebook listing upcoming medical appointments. Q: How come there are so many Target Gift Cards requested? We have many parents that request Target gift cards for their children. As any parent knows, small children will change their list again and again as the Christmas approaches. Why Target? All of the fa-cilities we support are within a walking distance/short public transportation ride to a Target. Q: Do the gifts really need to be wrapped when they are returned? Yes. The organizations have requested that the gifts be wrapped including the adult backpacks. Q: Is December 9th really the deadline? Yes. There is a small army of volunteers that will meet on Mon-day, December 10 to sort the gifts. Organizations will be picking up the gifts on December 11 for distribution so that all can have a very Merry Christmas.
We never say "no" to helpers! Please join us in Manion Hall on Monday, December 10 to help sort the pre-sents. We will meet at 6:00PM. If you are a high school student, we are happy to sign off on service hours* when you come and help. *Please let Christina Hurley or Jessica Callahan know.

All are welcome.
WITH SINCERE THANKS ...to the wonderful parishioners who helped last week to stuff and mail the OSR packets. It’s a time-consuming task, and they stayed to the very end so that the envelopes could be brought to the post office in a timely fashion. Thanks again.

CRADLES TO CRAYONS
Thank you St. Eulalia Parish for your support in mak-ing our 5th Cradles to Crayons Community Drive pos-sible. We are grateful for the use of Manion Hall and for the parking space for the collection unit. Thank you to everyone who donated items and helped at the sorting event. The collection unit was filled with do-nations and we had a room full of eager families work-ing hard to help many children get essential items they need and cannot afford.
We collected and sorted clothing, shoes, coats, books and toys that will help 702 children living in homeless situations. We are blessed to be a part of such a gener-ous and caring parish and community. Thank you!
~Jessica Callaghan
ADVENT CANDLES AND WREATHS
Advent calendars and wreaths will be for sale in the foyer of the church beginning this weekend, November 17-18. All proceeds will benefit St. Francis House in Boston. Your purchases will help to decorate your home with lovely, seasonal items and the offering will help those in need!
PARKING LOT SEALCOATING
Due to scheduling and weather conflicts, our sealcoat-ing project will have to wait until the Spring. We were able to get the crack sealing completed before the win-ter which is important for the life of the asphalt.
THANKSGIVING
You’re all invited to come and celebrate the Eucharist on Thanksgiving Eve/Day on Wednesday at 7:00PM and Thursday at 9:00AM in appreciation of the multi-ple blessings that God has given us.
You are also invited to bring to the Masses non-perishable food items which will be brought forth dur-ing the preparation of the gifts. All food items will be donated to St. Matthew’s Emergency Food Pantry. Pi-antedosi Bakery generously donated bread which will be blessed and distributed at the end of Mass to be en-joyed at your family’s Thanksgiving gathering.
KINDNESS CORNER
“ Kind words can be short and easy to speak,
but their echoes are truly endless”
~Mother Teresa

THE UNBROKEN WORD………………………..……....……..by Michael J. Cunningham
“Face the Music,” “Stop procrastinating,” “Avoid conflict at all costs!” These are a few of the quotes
which occupy our minds when we are facing problems. Depending on the seriousness of the problem,
and our relationship with those involved, we may take a different tack to find a resolution.
All of us at some point in our lives have been responsible for managing others, perhaps nowhere more
than in our close or extended family. For myself, I have a tendency to try and have others involved in
the solution to a problem, even when they may not want to participate. In business situations the way
problems are resolved are determined by the culture of the environment. While the polarization is most
evident in the workplace, it is also true for everywhere else.
We can all relate to seeing problems. However, our inner peace is often disturbed or restored based on
how we deal with them. Unfortunately, all too often, we either leave them unresolved or take a judg-
mental approach which often alienates those who are trying to bring back into the fold.
Leaving these issues to fester is rather like putting off symptoms of an illness we know we have to deal
with; they rarely fix themselves. While prayer can be a solace and even help us in our “silent suffer-
ing,” we also are called to action to try and do something to help resolve the situation. This means talk-
ing about the issues, having an open, but Christian mindset when looking for solutions. Asking our-
selves what is the “right thing to do,” not just what will satisfy me or the others involved. We need to
look no further than the beatitudes to help guide us in
these decisions. Almost all situations can be measured
against the loving advice of Jesus in those beautiful
words, and solutions and answers can be found.
I know at times, it can be painful when you open a
wound, examine a problem, deal with the difficulties;
however, avoidance almost always leads to a worse
outcome. So even if we have to cause some hurt or
raise some painful issue when it comes to solving
problems, we are called to take action. Personally, this
always causes some internal wounding, knowing you
have disturbed someone to help bring them to a reali-
zation which may resolve the issue.
The pain which we endure by taking action is a price
we all have to pay when we are operating as Chris-
tians with the desire to do this will from the heart. I
know this pain personally, as I am sure you have felt it
yourself.
When I feel this pain, I take a look at the crucifix and
see what love expressed really looks like. And the
love in His pain becomes mine.
