Dwight DrummondHost – ‘CBC News Toronto’

My studies in the RTA program at Ryerson definitely provided me with the skills that sent me on a remarkable career path. In fact, my first jobs in media were directly connected to my time in RTA. I’ve now been in the industry for 25 years and am currently co-hosting ‘CBC News Toronto’.

For me, the RTA program’s em-phasis on group-work and col-laboration created skills and long-lasting peer-relationships that I rely upon every single day of my professional life.

Scott MoorePresident of Sportsnet

There were so many great things about RTA, especially in the 80’s. I always say to stu-dents that the best thing you can do once you get into to Ryerson is get out and get part time work while doing your studies. I graduated the pro-gram with a terrific resume which was a jump start for my career.

Ryerson is where it all came together for me. I arrived in Toronto as a 19-year-old kid from Montreal, who acted in a couple of not so great movies, looking for my place in the en-tertainment business. The nur-turing and wonderful guidance that I received gave me the confidence to go after my dream.

RTA is amazing because it helps you find your passion and cre-ate your path, while providing you the essential tools to work and thrive in a number of areas. I went in to Ryerson thinking I was going to be an on-air news person but fell in love with tele-vision, then was drawn in to the Children’s Television program, where I flourished and found my calling. I love what I do ev-ery single day and I have RTA to thank for that!

RTA has a large alumni network of industry professionals in all aspects of media. Here is what a few of them have to say about their time in our program.
