LEAVING A MAGICAL MARK By Sarah Carlton

Every year lights are strung, decorations are created, and the magic of Prom starts to unfold. Matthews UMC is lucky enough to host an incredible time of dancing, food and laughter for the students of Metro School, a High School that teaches children with special needs. Students are welcomed by bursts of applause and cheers as they make their way down the red carpet and into the beautifully transformed Gym. The dance comes alive as students and members of our Youth Group start to show off their moves and amazing conga line skills.

During the Prom, a delicious sit-down dinner is served. The announcement of the Prom King and Queen is anticipated, and excitement fills the air as the names are read. Then everyone hits the dance floor one last time before going home.

This Prom truly leaves a magical mark on our Church as it is filled with joy and happiness. Weeks of busy planning and preparations are forgotten when we see that with the help of many Youth and outside donations, we are able to provide Metro students a glorious and memorable time. Even though this year’s Prom has come to a close, we are already counting down to next year’s prom when we can bring these wonderful kids back for more dancing and fun!

Thank you to the Youth, volunteers and Metro Staff who make this all possible!
