Japan
By: Joao PereiraKevin LaCroix
On March 11, 2011,a catastrophe happened
A tsunami hit the east coast of Japan, which was caused by an
earthquake with a magnitude of 9.0
The destruction caused by the tsunami/earthquake combo was
unprecedented
Truly, it was a tragedy
Unfortunately, that’s not all…
The disaster caused a nuclear power plant
in Fukushima to explode
The area around the power plant was and still is in risk of radiation
You’re asking yourself“I really feel bad for what happened, but
what can I do?”
You’d be surprised…
To help, you don’t need to create your own charity, or rally against
nuclear power plants
All you need to do, is take some time from your day to donate to
one of these charities
You can donate money to the Red Cross, who
are helping the Red Cross of Japan.
Note that 100% of your money goes to the disaster relief
You could donate some spare clothes to the Salvation Army.
They’ve been in Japan since 1895, giving clothes to the needy
Another great organization to donate to would be Americares. It’s relief workers were sent there as soon as they heard
about the disaster, and have been working in Sendai, the largest city closest to the
impact zone
Donating to any one of these organizations would have an
immense help. Now matter how much, please donate
So far, 115,775 people have donated close to
$7,400,000
Do it for those who truly need our help
