Thesis Workshop Thesis statement: The thesis statement is a single

sentence that expresses the whole idea the essay is to develop. The thesis is to the whole paper what a topic sentence is to a paragraph. A good thesis is: Restricted Unified Precise

Restricted- the sentence is narrow enough to be covered in the space available/

Unified- the sentence has only one dominant idea to prove. Precise- phrasing that permits only one interpretation.

There should be no vague words like interesting, great, colorful, fantastic.
