Panther Press: Easter Prayer Contest

Write your own Easter prayer and drop it in the “Power of

Prayer” box in the office. The winner will get to read their

prayer over the intercom for morning announcements and

it will be published in the Easter issue of the Panther

Press.

This week Rianne Murphy and other area students were honored by the Valparaiso Women’s Club for their prose. Rianne ac-

cepted the runner-up award in the Short Story contest. All recipients and guests were treated to lunch and an award ceremony

following the reading of their stories. Rianne was accompanied by her mother, Jennifer Murphy, Mrs. Pat Bengert (MS Language

Arts Teacher) and Principal Mrs. Jane Scupham.

Regional Saturday: Andrean vs. Marquette

Congratulations to the Andrean Fifty-

Niners on their Regional Championship

win! They defeated Marquette in the first

round morning game with the ending

scored being 71-70, this past Saturday.

In the evening game they defeated

Westview 60-49. Andre-

an will head to Lafayette

on Saturday, March 16th

to play Frankton in Semi

-state round.

Two Murphy kids won 1st Place in their division at

the Indiana State Wrestling Association Folkstyle

Championship.

Rianne had eight (8) total matches in two (2)

brackets to bring home gold in both the School-

boy/14U 87 lbs. division and the Schoolgirl/14U 92

lbs. division at the ISWA State Folkstyle Wrestling

Championships in Indianapolis. Opponents com-

bined score: zero. This is Rianne’s second year in

winning both divisions.

J. Patton Murphy took home his first state title by

winning all 5 matches out of 30 wrestlers in the

Intermediate 10U 59 lbs. division.
