We had the usual fans in player's parents, spouses, kids and even grandparents and also church members who came out to watch us play. We love to have fans to chat with during the games. Luckily, our coaches aren't too hard on us when we talk to the fans. This season our team prayers focused on friends and family who were or are sick or hurting, support for those who lost loved ones, youth travelling to camps during the summer, support for families who may have been dealing with individual struggles and thankfulness for allowing us to come together each week as a team for fun and fellowship (and yes, we like to win too). We are looking forward to next season already......If you have not had an opportunity to see one of our games, try to come out next year. It may not be the most impressive display of athleticism, but we guarantee a good time will be had by all, and if you are lucky, Henri Moore might be grilling up some hot dogs and sausages. 2014 East Hanover Women's Church Softball League Regular Season Champions (17-1) and Tournament Champions Front Row L-R: Tammy Miller, Debbie Atherholt, Wendy Moore, Jordan Goodman, (Hannah Ballowe) Sarah (Dewey) Dempsey, (Madeline Webb) (Emily Webb) Back Row L-R: Coach Donnie Goodman, Megan Allensworth, Brianna Dillard Dula, Ellen Webb, Tobie Stanley, Shannon Saferight, Julie Ballowe, Coach Mike Fritter Not Pictured: Kelly Jones, Michelle McCloud, Caity Brightwell

This Sunday is Manna Sunday! The Impact Ministry has set aside the first Sunday of each month as Manna Sunday. On this day, we collect donations of non-perishable food and toiletry items to help stock the MCEF Food Pantry located at Church of the Creator. Please use a marker to draw a line through the UPC code of items being donated and drop them off at the tent in front of the building. Our goal is to collect 2,000 lbs of food each manna Sunday. The need is always greater during the summer months and your generosity is appreciated! ■

On May 1, 2014, the Fairmount Child Care Program hosted their annual

National Day of Prayer Breakfast with the theme, “Lead Through Prayer”. The following is the final of the messages shared that day.

By: Rick Raines

When Larry Haake approached

me about sharing at the National Day

of Prayer Breakfast this past May, he

asked me to consider the question:

“How does prayer influence your

leadership here at the church?”

Wow! A better question might

have been how does it NOT?

Upon reflecting on such a

profound question, I was reminded of

what George W. Bush said in an

interview back in 2006. He was asked

what moved him the most in his

presidency. He reflected on a couple

of things, but then he added that what

moved him the most was the fact that

millions of Americans were praying for

him

I understand exactly what he

meant. I sense the prayers of the

Fairmount family every single day of

my ministry. There are too many

examples to include, but I am

reminded of the times when I have

stood in a hospital room after life-

support has been removed – or when I

have met with a couple who have

decided to call it quits – or when I

have conducted a funeral for a father

who leaves behind young children – or

when I have stood in a home after a

loved one has committed suicide

People say to me all the time – “I

don’t know how do you do that.”

My inclination is to say, “I don’t

know either.” But in reality I do know

– and I try to always say – “I could not

do it without the prayers of the

Fairmount family.”

That goes for the joys too, though.

I always sense the church’s prayers

when I am standing in the pulpit on a

Sunday morning – when I meet with

couples getting married – and when I

get the privilege of holding a newborn

baby in the hospital. I could not do

any of those things either without your

continued, faithful prayers.

The leadership I am called to is

not possible without the prayers of

many people: my wife, my family, our

staff, our Elders, our Prayer Teams,

and individuals all throughout our

congregation.

My leadership isn’t possible

without your prayers.

I am reminded of the joke …

After the church service a little

boy told the pastor, "Every

night before I go to bed, I pray

that God will give you some

money."

"Well, thank you," the pastor

replied, "but why?"

"Because my daddy says

you're the poorest preacher

we've ever had."

I do not need more money – I

don’t need anything. But I do need

and I do ask that you pray for me and

every person on our staff – and I ask

that you pray for us every day if you

can.

How?, you ask. I look to the

words of the Apostle Paul.

2 Thessalonians 3:1-2

“As for other matters, brothers and

sisters, pray for us that the message

of the Lord may spread rapidly and be

honored, just as it was with you. And

pray that we may be delivered from

wicked and evil people, for not

everyone has faith.”

Please pray for our safety … that

God will protect us and our

families from the attacks of the

devil.

Pray for our strength … that we

will do our ministries well and

continue to spread the message of

Jesus with unwavering confidence.

Pray for our Sabbath … that we

can rest and enjoy the blessings

that God pours on all of us here at

Fairmount.

I do not take the investment of

your prayers

lightly – I thank

God for you and

every prayer

every day.
