Summer is here at Theater on the Lake and we are happy to welcome you to our 2011 summer season!

So much has happened in Chicago since we’ve seen you last summer. From record breaking snow storms to a brand new mayor, change is in the air! As you may have noticed, the renovation and revitalization of the brick walls surrounding our building is finished. We are also welcoming a new concessionaire into the South Pavilion space this season. But what thankfully hasn’t changed, is our commit-ment to bringing you the best theater this city has to offer.

Whether it’s your first time here or you’ve been subscribing for 30 years, the 2011 The-ater on the Lake companies are sure to make you laugh, cry and leave wanting more!

So please join us in welcoming this year’s talented companies. We are pleased to open with The Improvised Shakespeare Company who will make you laugh so hard you cried. Our friends from Bohemian Theatre Ensemble are back with their highly acclaimed musical Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; a perfect show for the whole family! And what would the season be without a few high powered dra-mas such as Infamous Commonwealth Theatre’s A Doll’s House and Eclipse Theatre’s After the Fall?

BoHo Theatre’s mission is to create theatre that incorporates the arts as a whole — Art for art’s sake. Our vision is to challenge convention through literary originality and eclectic expression while fostering an ever-evolving artistic environment in which people are inspired to learn, think, dream, and feel. To teach others and ourselves how to expand, create, and present art through theatre while reveling not only in the process, but also in the journey.

Bear Berringer | ELMORE, SLAVEBear is excited to be able to make his BoHo debut joining this production of Big River. Previous credits include Porgy and Bess at Court Theatre, The Boys Next Door and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Metropolis Performing Arts Center, Rent with Big Noise/Ouroboros The-atres, and Tommy with Circle Theatre. Christa Buck | WIDOW DOUGLAS, SUSAN, SALLY, SQUEEZEBOX Christa is pleased to join BoHo Theatre for the first time! She has performed with Court Theatre (James Joyce’s The Dead), Theatre at the Center (The Sound of Music), TimeLine (The Cradle Will Rock), Emerald City Theatre (Rumplestilzkin and Cinderella), and several other Chicago theatres, in-cluding Terrapin, Stages Festival and The Savoy-Ai-res. Christa is an Artistic Associate with Porchlight Music Theatre (Into the Woods, Company, Passion, A Wonderful Life, Gypsy) and will return to the role of Doris Walker in Miracle on 34th Street.

Jim DeSelm | TOM SAWYER, ANDY, SLAVE CATCHER, COUNSELOR ROBINSONJim is excited to be working with BoHo for the first time. He was recently in The Wedding Singer (Glen) with Circle Theater; Jesus Christ Superstar with The-ater at the Center; Pump Boys and Dinettes (Jackson) and A Christmas Carol (Fred) with Metropolis Performing Arts Center; and Sarita (Mark) with Hal-cyon Theater. Regional Credits include Oklahoma! (Curly), Once Upon A Mattress (Sir Harry) and Plain & Fancy (Dan) at Amish Acres Round Barn Theater. He sends love to his beautiful wife, Karri.

Nicholas Davio | BOY, SHERIFF BELL GUITAR, BANJO-GUITAR, HARMONICA, PERCUSSION Nicholas is a Chicago-based musician who has appeared with multiple groups over the past 20 years, including the Battle Creek Boychoir, Blue Lake International Choir, Chicago-based fusion band Ferdinand Fox, and electro/folk-rock band Hypermodal. Recent Chicago theatre credits in-clude Hedwig and the Angry Inch with American Theatre Company (guitar and keyboard), Girls vs. Boys with House Theatre (Asst. Musical Direc-tor, guitars, keyboard), The 100 Dresses with Chi-cago Children’s Theatre (guitars/bass), Man of LaMancha with Theo Ubique (Guitar), The Who’s Tommy with Northwestern Univerity (guitars), and The Castle with Oracle Theatre (Composi-tion/Sound Design). He holds a Bachelor’s in Music from Millikin University.

Anna Hammonds | MISS WATSON, STRANGE WOMAN, MARY JANE WILKESBig River marks Anna’s BoHo Theatre debut. Other credits include: Lincolnshire Marriott, Theatre at the Center, Noble Fool Theatri-cals, JPAC and Quest Ensemble. Anna was a company member of Renaissance Repertory in Tennessee before moving to Chicago, and

performed two national tours of A Christmas Carol. Thank you to the people of BoHo for this opportunity!

Hilary Holbrook | JO, JOANNA WILKES, FIDDLEHilary could not be more excited for the chance to play such wonderful music and work with such wonderful people! Previous credits include The Robber Bridegroom (Griffin Theatre), A Streetcar Named Desire (Polarity Ensemble Theatre), and Big Top JoJo and His Phenomenal Phantasmagoria (Jonny Stax Presents). Hilary has also played her violin for such events as Second Story (Serendipity Theatre), Old Town (Strawdog Theatre), as well as collaborating with several wonderful Chicagoland musicians on a wide variety of projects. She holds a BA in theatre from Loyola University Chicago and is an artistic associate with Polarity Ensemble Theatre.

Benjamin Kirberger | BEN, A YOUNG FOOL, HARVEY WILKES, WASHBOARD, TAMBOURINEBanjamin is thrilled to be making his debut with both BoHo Theatre and Theatre on the Lake! Other Chicago credits include It’s Begin-ning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Jesus Christ Super Star, and Crazy for You at Theatre at the Centre, Sketchbook X: (“What I’m Looking For”) with Collaboraction, The Pirates of Penzance and My Fair Lady with Light Opera Works, and various productions with Lifeline Theatre’s Kidseries and Chicago Kids Company. Ben is a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University’s Theatre Department, and would like to thank his friends and family for everything they have ever done, ever.

John B. Leen | JUDGE THATCHER, DUKE, DOCTORRecently, John won a Jeff Award for Best Supporting Actor for Chess with Theo Ubique, played on Theatre at the Center’s deck in The Christmas Schooner, was seen on the Lyric Opera Ryan stage in Don Giovanni, and wore a corset with Chicago Folks Operetta in Cloclo. Other credits include the Jeff Citation-winning American premiere of Jerry Springer:The Opera at Bailiwick, BoHo Theatre’s Jekyll & Hyde, and the premiere of Main-Travelled Roads with American Folklore Theater. Thanks to BoHo and thank you for supporting live theater!

Cam McIntyre | UPRIGHT BASSCam’s selected Chicago area credits on bass include: Girls vs. Boys with House Theatre, Evita with Theo Ubique, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes with Circle Theatre, Rent with Ouroborous & Big Noise, and Cam’s Tie-house band for the Uptown Poetry Slam at the Green Mill. Krystal Metcalfe | ALICE, SLAVEFrom St. Louis, Mo., Krystal is thrilled to be mak-ing her BoHo Theatre debut in this production. With a B.A. in Musical Theatre from Columbia College Chicago, Krystal has a passion for the arts, and is elated to be a working entertainer. Her favorite roles include: Ronnette in Little Shop of Horrors, Little Inez as well as a Dynamite in Hairspray, and an Apollo performer in The Buddy Holly Story. Andrew Mueller | HUCKLEBERRY FINN, GUITARBig River marks Andrew’s BoHo Theatre debut. Favorite roles in-clude Feste in Twelfth Night (Shakespeare in the Arb) and Jamie in The Last Five Years. Erin Wuorenma | COSTUME DESIGNERCurrently, Erin is working at the Marriott Theatre as an assistant to the Costume Designer since 2007. After moving back to the Chicagoland area, Erin designed CloClo, The Land of Nod, and Girl on a Train with Chicago Folks Operetta. She also works with Northwestern University’s Opera program as Wardrobe Supervisor. Erin has worked with Maine State Music Theatre as a Shop Manager, Louisville Ballet as a craftsper-son, designed for Necessary Theatre in Lou-isville. Erin is also a Zumba Fitness Instructor. Thank you to my family, SD, the Peters for your encouragement. Cheers to you for supporting live theatre.

Samantha Treible | LIGHTING DESIGNERSamantha has recently moved to Chicago and loves the city. She could not be happier work-ing with BoHo Theatre for the first time. She was just recently in Santa Rosa, California, working with SRT on productions including Peter Pan, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Full Monty, The Wedding Singer, and Mame. Other credits include Hot Mikado at PCPA Theaterfest, where she was also the Master Electrician and Assistant Lighting Designer for 3 years.

David Solotke | STAGE MANAGER, PRODUCTION MANAGERDavid is thrilled to be returning to BoHo Theatre, having stage managed I Am My Own

Wife last season. Other SM credits include Merry Wives of Windsor and Scapin (Illinois Shakespeare Festival), and Dance Chicago 2009. David is a certified theatre and history teacher, and works as a substitute teacher. David is a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Theatre Education.

Stephen M. Genovese | PROPERTIES DESIGNERSteve has spent the better part of 30 years involved in theatre in one aspect or another. From stage direction to technical direction, costuming to props, acting to writing, being involved on so many levels has helped him officiate in the positions he currently holds as Artistic Advisor and founding Artistic Director at BoHo Theatre. Steve has performed at or worked with Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theatre, Pheasant Run Dinner Theatre, Court Theatre, and Stage Right Theatre, to name a few. His works as director and/or designer for BoHo include the critically acclaimed hit musicals The Wild Party, the Jeff-winning SideShow, Jekyll & Hyde, and The Glorious Ones, and the plays I Am My Own Wife (co-director) and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde. Thank you to Tom for not only being the glue that holds all of this together, but for being the absolute rhythm of my heart.

Austin Cook (Musical Director/Pianist) Chicago credits include productions with American Blues Theater, Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre, Porchlight Theatre. Show credits include Some Enchanted Evening (music director/pianist; Jeff Award for musi-cal direction), It’s A Wonderful Life: Live at the Biograph! (composer/pianist), Phantom of the Opera (music director), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (music director). Favorite regional acting credits include: Grey Gardens (Gould), A Tale of Two Cities (Dr. Manette). Austin has worked closely with Walt Disney Entertainment’s Guy Petty and Dave Westerkov in produc-tions such as Finding Nemo: The Musical and Toy Story. Sarah Hayes (Dance Captain) is thrilled to be back with Sweet and Hot. Fred Anzevino (Director) is Co-Founder/Artistic Director for Theo Ubique Caba-ret Theatre. Since 1997, he has produced and directed more than 35 productions, most recently the long-running, critically acclaimed production of Some Enchant-ed Evening: Songs of Rodgers and Ham-merstein. He has received 3 Jeff Awards for Best Director of a Musical: Cabaret (2008), Evita (2009) and Chess (2010). Un-der Fred’s artistic direction, Theo Ubique has received 30 Jeff Awards Non-Equity, 3 After Dark Awards and Rogers Park Community Council’s “Spirit of Rogers Park Award.” This is Fred’s third show being presented at Theater OnThe Lake, following Side by Side by Sondheim and Jacques Brel’s Lonesome Losers of the

Night (which he co-created with Arnold Johnston and Joshua Stephen Kartes). A very special “Thank You” to the TOTL artistic staff and crew!

David Heimann (Choreographer) serves as the Company Manager for Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre. He most recently directed Man of La Mancha in the fall of 2009 and has choreographed Flora the Red Menace, Side by Side by Sondheim and Jacques Brel’s Lonesome Losers of the Night at Theo Ubique. While performing with many companies in Chicago over the last 12 years (Stage Left, Pegasus Players, Porchlight Music Theatre, Chicago Kids Company), Theo Ubique has been his artistic home. Stephanie Herman is delighted to be back at Theo Ubique, where she was last seen in Chess as Svetlana. Previously, Stephanie was in Village Players’ Sunday in the Park with George (Dot). She was a part of the world premiere of Wild Goat, a new musical from the creators of Urinetown and Hotel d’Amour, at Steel Beam Theatre and Metropolis Performing Arts Center’s world premiere of Speed Dating, the Musical (Emily). Stephanie has been on stage for more than 10 years, performed and studied with The Second City in Chicago, and is currently studying vo-cal performance with Sharron Monfeli. “Love and thanks to Fred, my supportive family, and amazing friends.”

Eric Lindahl is excited to be working with Theo Ubique again after appearing in Side by Side by Sondheim. Favorite credits include Side Show (Buddy; Jeff Citation & After Dark Award) with BoHo Theatre, Six Degrees of Separation (Trent) with Signal Ensemble, Footloose (Chuck Cranston) with TATC. As a company member at Circle Theatre, Eric appeared in The Who’s Tommy (Capt. Walker), Seven Brides (Adam), The Analytical Engine (Nathaniel Swade), Thou Shalt Not (Laurent), Mack and Mabel (Frank), Design for Living (Birbeck/Matthew) and Hayfever (Sandy). Eric Martin is enjoying being back on the Theo Ubique stage after playing Cliff in Cabaret and Man 2 in Jacques Brel’s

Lonesome Losers of the Night. His biggest passion is working on new and reinvented roles, and he loves doing it even more in the rich Rogers Park theater district with his creative family. Theater finds art in the most unlikely places!

Kristofer Simmons “exploded onto the Chicago cabaret scene” in 2004, co-starring in the show Explicit Lyrics, which ran in three separate incarnations that year, and followed that up with his one man show I Ain’t Got No Shame. Kristofer is a seasoned actor, having attended both the Boston Conservatory and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is a founding member of the Laboratory Theatre and, in Chicago, has worked at the Bailwick, Pheasant Run, Prologue and New Millinium theater com-panies to name a few. He is thrilled to add Theo Ubique to this list.

Bethany Thomas is delighted to re-visit her Jeff-nominated turn in Sweet and Hot! Adam Veness (Scenic Designer) This is Adam’s second production with Theo Ubique and he is proud to be working alongside such a talented group of artists. A few of his recent credits include designs for Light Opera Works, The Gift Theater, Studio BE, MidTangent Productions, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, and Northbrook Theater for Young Audiences. He wishes to thank his fiancée Emily for her unparalleled, priceless, and gratis assistance on this (and all) projects.

Michael M. Nardulli (Lighting Designer) is pleased to be back with Theo Ubique. Previously he designed Some Enchanted Evening and Cats. Recent work in Chicago includes Trogg! A Musical with Hell in a Handbag Productions and The People’s Four Seasons with Quest Theatre En-semble. He has also worked on Darwin in Malibu with the Generic Theatre and Private Lives with Bristol Valley Theater. Other credits include work with The Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk, VA and Syracuse Stage in Syracuse, NY.

Bill Morey (Costume Designer) designed Theo Ubique’s Jeff Award-winning pro-duction of Chess. He received a 2008 Jeff Award Equity for costuming Porchlight Music Theatre’s Nine, as well as a 2009 nomination for Candide, a 2010 nomina-tion for Into the Woods, and After Dark Awards for Gypsy and A New Brain. Bill also designed the costumes for the Jeff Award-winning musicals Ragtime for Porchlight, Tomorrow Morning at the Greenhouse and the Off Broadway premier of Tomorrow Morning. Bill has worked with Timeline, Lifeline, Griffin, Boho, Piven, Bailiwick, Hell in a Handbag, The Scooty and JoJo Show, and many others. You can see more of his work at www.billmorey.com.

Rachael Holiday (Stage Manager) is ex-cited to be reunited with everyone for this great production at Theater on the Lake! At Theo Ubique she has stage managed Chess, the original production of Sweet and Hot, The Lady’s Not for Burning, Cats and Some Enchanted Evening. She has been on the stage management teams for The Fel-lowship of the Performing Arts, Noble Fool Theatricals, Bohemian Theatre Ensemble, Timber Lake Playhouse and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. HISTORY OF THEO UB IQUE

Fred Anzevino, Co-Founder and Artistic Director, originally began producing plays under the Theo Ubique name in 1997, first at the Heartland Studio. When the company’s perfor-mances moved to Michael James’ No Exit Café in 2004, he began focusing on musicals and revues and started the cabaret theatre trend in Chicago. Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre has produced 35 shows during its 13-year history, consistently garnering praise from audiences and critics alike, earning 30 Jeff Awards and 3 After Dark Awards to date.

The name Theo Ubique (pronounced thee-oh oo-bah-kway) is a combination of Greek and Latin words reflecting the company’s mission to engage actors and audiences in an intimate and honest conversation with great theatrical works. Theo Ubique is dedicated to making its home in the Rogers Park neighborhood and as a member of the Glenwood Arts District.
