The xx- Crystallized ( Applying Goodwin's Theory)

Page 2: The xx crystallized

Genre• This music genre is indie and which is a performance video. Its

mainly a performance video this is because the XX band are playing with the instrument and interacting with audiences to express their feelings on what they’ve did during the past. The reason why I’ve decided to research this video this is because it has a mix of pain, passion and pleasure and the indie is calm which means it’s a casual look and comfort. This shot shows us that they feel insecure and unhappy about the past.

Visuals and Lyrics• The chorus of this track crystallized signifies that their meth addiction

leads to danger and being paralyzed. The lyrics of this track “I’ll forgive and forget before I’m paralyzed “ this quote signifies that they have no choice but to move on otherwise if they carry on they would be crystallized/paralyzed which means their life has come to an end.

• The lyrics of this song also talking about starting a new life by forgiving and forgetting this is because guy wants to move on faster, he is ready to give into the feelings. But the female artist is scared of moving to fast, and she is trying to tell him that she needs time. This show also shows us they feel guilty.
