off to the olympics, jamaica! may 5, 1936

may the fourth be with youmay 4, 2005

Celebrated as Star Wars Day by fans because of the phase “may the force be with you”. In a 2005 interview with a German news company, Geroge Lucas was recorded saying this iconic phrase and then mistranslated into German saying “we will be with you May the fourth”.

Stone ColdStone Cold is new to the ice cream scene in Jamaica but this ice cream parlour brings with it an old school flair not found anywhere else locally.

Looking at the menu, items like Jumbo Malt and Ice Cream Soda sound like they came right from of a 1950s soda shoppe but others like Snickers Mi Lickers and Chocolate Brownin’ are straight Jamaican.

Stone Cold is the place to go and satisfy your sweet tooth and beat the upcoming summer heat. Bring your friends and family and make it an ‘ice cream social’.

Located in Sovereign North on Barbican Road, Stone Cold’s opening hours are from 12noon to 10pm every day of the week.

Natalia Oh is an award-winning blogger (2012 Winner of Best Beauty & Fashion Blog - Jamaica Blog Awards) and a stylist/image consultant by profession. She’s loved fashion all her life and felt guilty about it growing up thinking it was superficial and never thought it could be a lucrative busi-ness. Natalia has never attended Fashion School, but her heart knows what it wants - so blogging and styling was a natural pro-gression from following her heart.

Most exciting gig:Mango (a European based retail store) in Toronto, Canada which taught me the priceless styling principles of learning balance and staying true to stye, not trends.

Most meaningful gig:Working with a non-profit catering to people suffering from mental illnesses. It gave me new meaning to how precious life is and a new appreciation for the simpler things in life. It was there that I developed an appreciation for vintage fashion and began my collection for First Edition books.

Page 8: the wkndr - Natalia Oh!

Most interesting gig:I was a huge fan of The Soprano’s and got the opportunity to work with a minor character after my enthusiasm and knowledge of the show lured him to shop in the Men’s Department of a store I was working in at the time.

How long have you been a ‘fashionista’?I’ve been doing this forever; I’ve been styling friends and family members all my life. I have a very convincing personality and everyone has grown to appreciate my sense of style and my trend forecasting. Being able to marry style principles with the ability to do it on a budget has been a huge advantage for me in Jamaica.

What are your winds spent doing? The beach with my kids and close friends. We like the beach at Great Bay on the South Coast then we head to Jack Sprat for the pizza. But if I could spend my weekends anywhere in Jamaica it would definitely be at Portland. Portland has my heart.
