Participants will work from nude and costumed male and female models posing amid still-life vignettes in 8,000 square feet of studio space. DCAD’s event is inspired by the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture, which founded its drawing marathon more than 20 years ago on the belief that drawing can be the basis of understanding one’s experience of the world. All such events, which have become part of a worldwide trend, are designed to allow participants to develop their artistic visions and sharpen their skills while engaging in a large-scale studio experience. Easels and light refreshments will be provided, but attendees must bring their own supplies. Participants may attend as many hours of the event as they like. All participants will be invited to exhibit their completed works as part of DCAD’s 2018 Continuing Education Exhibition in the Toni & Stuart B. Young Gallery. Because space is limited, advance registration is strongly recommended.
