Netball News We have come to the end of another great season of netball. All of the teams have developed in skill, displaying a wonderful improvement over the last two terms. Year 6 came together really well as a team in Term 3 and had a fantastic win over St Joseph’s last Friday. The girls all enjoyed their netball and I wish them all the best for their future netball at high school. Year 5 played very well all year but were unfortunately beaten in their last game on Friday against Jewells Garnets. I look forward to seeing all the girls back again next year to play for the Seniors. Junior Green had a great year, with all our new players quickly learning the skills of the game and putting them into action. They played a very good game against St Paul’s last Friday in the final but were beaten on the day by a very strong opposition. Well done girls for making the finals! Junior Purple also had a great year, with all their new players developing some great skills over the season. They had a very convincing win over Gateshead West last Friday to qualify them for the grand final this week. Well done girls for making it to the grand final. We wish you all the best of luck for Friday! A big thank you to all the wonderful parents and grandparents who have attended every week. We greatly appreciate your help with transport, scoring, umpiring, coaching and supporting the girls. We would not be able to participate in the competition without you! A special thank you to Maree C for coaching our Junior Purple through to the Grand Final – well done Maree! Also to Jamie M for looking after Year 5 all year. Thanks to Karen W, Maree C and Dorothy L for their wonderful umpiring. Our new umpires, Lucy K, Stephanie B, Sharon S and Hannah V are to be commended for their excellent umpiring of the junior teams. Well done girls – you have really developed your umpiring skills over the season. Thanks to all for a great season of netball. See you all next year! Mrs Tonge

Regional Final of the Premiers Spelling Bee Last Tuesday, Phoebe K, Blake G, Thomas H and Shaye C all attended the Premier’s Spelling Bee Regional Final at Newcastle East Public School. Phoebe K and Blake G participated in the Stage 2 Regional Final in the morning, competing against another 42 students from the Newcastle area. Both students did very well with Phoebe making it all the way to Round 3 and Blake to Round 2. Representing Stage 3 was Thomas H and Shaye C who competed against 40 students from the Newcastle area. This competition was very tight, with all students demonstrating their ability to spell a range of complex of words. All four students did extremely well and represented our school beautifully. They all put in a lot of hard work studying the complex and lengthy word lists. Congratulations Phoebe, Blake, Thomas and Shaye, we are all very proud of you. Mrs Noble
