The Scoop You Need To Know Inside The White Rock Fund The White Rock Fund began in 1999 as an effort of members of Churches of Christ to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. People in 39 nations are thankful for the good accomplished over 18 years. Preachers who had been thinking of taking secular jobs are now able to serve the Lord fulltime in the ministry. Thousands have been baptized into Christ. Many con- gregations have been established. By the end of 2017 our hope is that 100 faithful missionaries will be beneficiaries of grants provided this year alone. The Board of Trustees is made up of men and women, preachers and elders, Cau- casians and African Americans, young adults and senior citizens. All are mem- bers of Churches of Christ. Each volunteers time, talents and energies. None of the Trustees receives a penny for his or her service. Missionaries receiving grants from the Fund must provide written assurance that they believe and teach vital doctrines of Scripture. A copy of this statement: (“The Church of Christ”) is available upon request. Monies contributed go to churches for the support of faithful teachers and preachers around the world. The Fund owns no real estate, maintains no buildings, pays no utilities or property insurance. It provides no medical coverage or retire- ment plan. Expenses are kept to a minimum. Since The White Rock Fund is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, all contributions are tax deductible, just as contributions to local churches are tax deductible. We encourage you to include the Fund in your estate planning. (For example, consider the Fund as if it were one of your children to receive a equal portion of your estate. If you have three children, divide your estate into four por- tions by considering the Fund as one of your children.) Congregations sometimes make contributions to the Fund but church contributions are not solicited. Individual Christians are encouraged to partner with us in this effort to preach the gospel by contributing on a regular basis or at the annual Reporting and Fund-raising Day in October. Contributions may be sent to: The White Rock Fund, P.O. Box 180274, Dallas, Texas 75218. Hear the stories of successful missionaries at the upcoming annual Reporting and Fund-raising Day, October 28, 2017 at The Wyndham, 7800 Alpha Road, Dallas. Activities begin at 10:00 A.M. and end at 2:00 P.M. A free buffet lunch is included. To make reservations for the free buffet please call: 214-926-2747. The Scoop You Need To Know

Inside The White Rock Fund

The White Rock Fund began in 1999 as an effort of members of Churches of Christ to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. People in 39 nations are thankful for the good accomplished over 18 years. Preachers who had been thinking of taking secular jobs are now able to serve the Lord fulltime in the ministry. Thousands have been baptized into Christ. Many con-gregations have been established. By the end of 2017 our hope is that 100 faithful missionaries will be beneficiaries of grants provided this year alone.

The Board of Trustees is made up of men and women, preachers and elders, Cau-casians and African Americans, young adults and senior citizens. All are mem-bers of Churches of Christ.

It provides no medical coverage or retire-ment plan.

If you have three children, divide your estate into four por-tions by considering the Fund as one of your children.) Congregations sometimes make contributions to the Fund but church contributions are not solicited. Individual Christians are encouraged to partner with us in this effort to preach the gospel by contributing on a regular basis or at the annual Reporting and Fund-raising Day in October. Contributions may be sent to: The White Rock Fund, P.O. Box 180274, Dallas, Texas 75218.

IS THERE ANYONE YOU CAN TRUST?

You have been a Christian almost all of your life, you have grown spiritually, been faithful to the Lord’s church through all the years and witnessed preachers and elders confront false teachings within and without the body of Christ. Now you are won-dering if there is anything you can do the make sure that after your death your resources will help pre-serve the church for future generations –– to enable the truth to be taught to generations yet to come. Is there anyone you can trust with your resources?

The concerns you have we also have. Like you, we love the Lord’s church and want it to do well. We, too, want future generations to be faithful in teaching and practice. We want the unique “back to the Bible” message to be heard as long as time endures.

Sometimes institutions abandon the principles espoused by those who founded those institutions; congrega-tions do not always continue to be on guard for for things that would corrupt its doctrine and worship. Far too often congregations make little or no preparation to protect their property from those who would lead them away from God’s word. Just a few votes here and there and church leadership can be swayed to go in an entirely different direction. The church is always only one generation away from apostasy and every generation faces identity issues. God’s people are facing an identity crisis now. Distinctive preaching is being “watered down”. Churches are drifting. Many members lack deep convictions concerning things that make the Lord’s church unique. In the great division of 1906 Churches of Christ and Christian Churches went their separate ways. Historians say we lost up to 80% of our members, the majority of our church properties and all of our Christian universities. What happened once can happen again. We must to be “wise as serpents and as harmless as doves” to make sure the resources entrusted to us by God are used to build up His kingdom, not to tear it down.

We understand that you do not want your assets to fall into the wrong hands after your departure to be with Christ. It was because of this genuine concern that The White Rock Fund was created. The Fund has a very clear statement of faith (“The Church of Christ,” available upon request). The Fund’s assets will always pro-mote teaching the truth; they will never be used to teach error. What you entrust to the Fund will be protect-ed. The Trustees are united in the fundamental truths of God’s word . The White Rock Fund “Statement of Faith” is a summary of some vital Biblical principles that God’s family has believed and taught through the years. Every teacher and every preacher who receives a grant from the Fund must indicate in writing that he shares these same convictions. Want to know more about The White Rock Fund?. Contact the Trustees by letter (P.O. Box 180274, Dallas, Texas 75218), e-mail ([email protected]) or phone (214-926-2747).

CASTLETON BUILDS VERMONT’S FIRST CHURCH BUILDING IN 42 YEARS!

NEW MINISTER INVERMONT CAPITAL

Nicholas Bartell is the new full-time minister of the Lord’s church in Montpelier, Vermont. Nicholas is from Pensacola, Florida and recently graduated from a School of Preaching in Tennessee.

Churches of Christ in Vermont are very small, only nine exist in the entire state. Mont-pelier is the state capital. It has a population of 8,000, but that number swells to over 21,000 during the day due to the number of jobs available. Highways to and from Mont-pelier lead to New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Canada. The congregation consists of about 40 members with only half in regular attendance. With a full-time minister, the brethren anticipate spiritual and numerical growth. The White Rock Fund provides a grant to the Montpelier Church of Christ for his support.

The Green Mountain Church of Christ in Castleton, Vermont has spent a year renovating a hardware store to be-come a place of worship in the heart of the community. Renovations were complete in May, and Christians gath-ered from various states to participate in the “Open House”. Kirk Israel serves as the full-time evangelist. He and his wife, Karen, have been with the congregation since 2013. It is the first church building constructed by Churches of Christ in Vermont for 42 years! The White Rock Fund provides a grant to the church for Kirk’s support.

TRANSLATING GOD’S WORD INTO FRENCH IN DIFFICULT TIMES

Barry Baggott, a faithful evangelist among French-speak-ing Churches of Christ is commit-ted to spreading pure New Testa-ment Christianity in many nations of the world .

His wife, Rachel, is fighting a serious battle against cancer. However, even under these difficult circumstances Barry continues to translate and distribute gospel materials among French-speaking nations. He recently published two articles entitled “The Christian Response to Islamist Violence” and “Infant Baptism”. A website designed especially for French-speaking Muslims called Descen-duVersNous.com (in English: RevealedToUs.com) is now on the world-wide web. Audio books intended to reach Muslims for Christ are being advertized on Google ads in U. S. cities which have large Muslim populations. Remember Barry and Rachel in your prayers!

Daniel Frerot, missionary in Strasbourg, France, has devoted several months to translating Bible materials at the Sunset International Bible Institute into French. Subjects include: Christian Evi-dences, The Thessalonian Epistles, Isaiah, John’s Epistles, Acts of the Apostles and The Church of Christ. These materials will be used in French-speaking countries all over the world. Because of U.S. government immigration issues, Daniel has been separated from his family during these months, but hopes to return to France in the near future. Pray for Daniel and his wife, Tammy, and their children! Your generous gifts to The White Rock Fund make possible a grant to the Church of Christ in Glen Allen, Virginia for Daniel’s support.

We Believe In The White Rock Fund

“I like to support The White Rock Fund because it is man-aged with as little administrative expenses of any fund I have ever heard about.

We are to commanded to take the gospel to the world, and I find the Fund serves that purpose for me.”

Rhetta CargileDallas,Texas

Being the product of the mis-sion-field myself I find the annual Reporting and Fund-raising Day enlight-ening and energizing as I listen to the reports of other faithful teachers and preachers. The White Rock Fund is a breath of fresh air for me! It helps us to

get out of a cocoon of the work we do in the local church and to have a world-wide focus. This is im-portant.

GOD’S WORK IN NEW YORK

Paul Oppong preaches for the North Bronx Church of Christ, 1211 Brook Avenue in New York City. He reports that attendance for Sunday worship has climbed to 120. The Ghanian congregation is reaching out to people who live in America’s largest city and also to other nations through radio and internet evangelism.

In July the congregation will co-operate with other Churches of Christ among numerous ethnic groups in the New York City area. Gospel tracts will be distributed and there will be knocking on doors with invitations to spe-cial activities of the church in Mount Vernon, New York.

Members of the congregation write: “We need your con-tinued support for the Church and for our preacher so he can preach the gospel to a dying world. Thank you and God who richly blesses The White Rock Fund.”

A grant is provided for the support of Paul Oppong. You can share in preaching the gospel to millions who live in New York City through your contributions to The White Rock Fund.

SOUTH SUDAN BIBLE SCHOOL MOVES TO UGANDA

Due to persecution most South Sudanese Christians are living in Uganda Unit-ed Nations Refugee Camps. The South Sudan Bible School has been re-orga-nized on three separate campuses. Two e-mails describe the present situation:

“It is amazing to see what the Lord is doing. This afternoon three of our students were added to the body of Christ through baptism. The in-depth study of the book of Acts had immense influence on them. They began to compare the way they were “saved” in their denominational churches and the way first century Christians were saved. This realized they needed to be re-baptized.”

“Last night the Lord blessed us with 10 baptisms. These are the result of door-to-door evangelism the students conduct every Monday and Thursday.”

Your gifts to The White Rock Fund will provide a grant to the elders of the Church of Christ in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee for the support of Elias Odongpiny, an evangelist and Bible instructor in the South Sudan Bible School.

THOUSANDS BROUGHT TO CHRIST IN INDIA

We are thrilled each month to learn the number of people who have been obedient to the unchanging gospel of Christ! Each baptism fol-lows the New Testament pattern of hearing the gospel, believing in Jesus Christ, repenting of sins, confessing faith in Jesus as Lord and immersion for the forgiveness of sins. Each new Christian is sent forth on the path of service and worship which leads to eternal life.

This year the first of a three part New Testament Survey has been printed and distributed to teachers. We anticipate that about 24,000 students will participate in the study. Some denominational preach-ers have become involved in the Bible studies and will be converted as a result of their study and fellowship with teachers.

Your contributions to The White Rock Fund enables the Fund to provide a grant to the Rock Hill Church of Christ, Frisco, Texas, for the support of 23 full-time preachers and grants for the printing of the New Testament Survey as well.
