Stage 3 explored how success, challenges and failure can strengthen their own identities and the importance of having a good support team around them, such as our family, friends, school and sporting clubs.

Students learnt different ways to respond positively to challenges and failures, such as using self-talk, using early help-seeking behaviours and optimistic thinking. Students encouraged one another in how they could participate in new activities and examined how success through persistence can have positive outcomes and strengthen their own character. Students also engaged in discussion about gratitude and how they should never take things for granted and to be grateful for the opportunities they have around them.

Harmony Day Harmony Day on the 21st of March celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. In schools we celebrate inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all Australians, from the traditional custodians of the land to those who have come from many countries around the world. Students at QWPS will celebrate Harmony Day on Monday the 22nd March Students can choose to wear either their cultural dress or something orange to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Day. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations.

Regional Swimming Carnival On the 10 March, Mr Sedunary and several students went to Dapto to compete in the Regional Swimming Carnival. It was a great day and all competitors represented the school with pride.

WHO WE ARE The QWPS Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association is the official parent organisation of our school. Our P&C brings together a dedicated group of parents, caregivers and interested citizens who want to help and be involved with their school to support the teaching and learning at QWPS. The P&C provides an opportunity to learn about the school's curriculum and programs, shape and develop school policies, share information and views, assist in building a positive school community, and help raise funds to provide extra resources.

HOW YOU CAN BECOME INVOLVED Our school community is made up of a diverse group of people, with a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, life

experiences and talents. Being a volunteer for our P&C is a great way to share your ideas and experiences, understand more about what

happens at school, get to know teachers and the Principal, and voice your opinion about

school issues. Everyone is welcome to attend the P&C meetings. Meetings are held at 7pm on the second Tuesday of every month (except for during school holidays). Each meeting is held in the school library, and this year we are excited to offer virtual attendance as well. Meetings generally run for up to one hour. By becoming a financial member, you are eligible to vote on matters raised. If attending meetings isn’t your thing or doesn’t fit into your schedule, there are many other ways you can be involved. You could help cook a barbecue, serve in the canteen for

special events, help coordinate a raffle, seek donations, write grants - there is something for everyone! Any contribution is a worthwhile one to support the

children and community of our school. An hour or two once or twice a year can make a huge difference to what we can achieve! The more people who are involved in the P&C, the more exciting and successful it will be. New faces always bring new ideas and new enthusiasm! UPCOMING EVENTS Athletics Carnival The P&C will be running a canteen at the Athletics Carnival for hungry athletes and spectators. More information to be provided shortly. 6th May – Mother’s Day Stall The Mother’s Day stall will be available for students throughout the day to attend with their classes. More information will be provided closer to the date. CONTACT US
