T H E W A Y O F T H E F L E S H – FOREWORD FROM THE GALLERY

G13 Gal lery has not on ly been known for promot ing local ta len ts a t thei r premise and several in ternat ional ar t fa i rs . Bu t they are also keen on col laborat ive projec ts wi th regional gal ler ies, curators and even ar t i s t s di rec t ly. I t has become one of thei r modules to in t roduce local audience wi th f resher, abroad pale t te once in a whi le.

For the month of Ju ly, G13 Gal lery is proud to present ‘The Way of The F lesh’ a group show which is predominant ly cons is ted of f ine ar t i s t s f rom the land of Phi l ippines. The ar t i s t s are as fo l lows: Ana Verayo, Ar t Sanchez, Dexter Sy, Ernes t Concepcion, Jason Mont inola, Kaloy Sanchez, Lec Cruz and Valer ie Chua. As an addi t ion, G13 have inv i ted two gues t ar t i s t s to be featured in the group show. Represent ing Malays ia is Kow Leong Kiang and Ong-Ar j Loemornpagsin f rom Thai land. The group show is compr ised of ten ar t i s t s f rom around the region. The di rec t ion of the exhibi t ion revolves around the mastery and prowess of f igurat ive ar t each ar t i s t wishes to present . I t would be very exci t ing to wi tness the s imi lar i ty and dispar i ty between one to another.

The Way of The F lesh was in i t ia l ly p lanned out roughly a year ago, which is the resu l t o f an inqui ry and discuss ion between G13 Gal lery ’s creat ive di rec tor and ar t i s t Jason Mont inola who was v is i t ing the gal lery not so long ago. Both par t ies have acknowledged each presence through shared mutual f r iends and casual conversat ions before. This exhibi t ion is a c lear resu l t o f a heal thy re la t ionship between ar t i s t and gal lery and hopefu l ly i t wi l l b loom even more in the fu tu re th rough each other ’s endless suppor t .

To G13 gal lery, the exhibi t ion is an ex tens ion to the col laborat ive ef for t s shown through the suppor t f rom ar t i s t in Southeas t region. G13 Gal lery has never neglec ted scout ing raw ta len ts that has been showcased throughout thei r ou t ing. Jus t l ike the ar t i s t s , a gal lery should become an outgoing body not jus t to promote i t s in f luence as an ins t i tu t ion but a lso to gather connect ions that would in i t ia te cooperat ive ef for t as th is exhibi t ion for an ins tance. G13 gal lery bel ieves in br idging the gap between the local audience and regional ar t i s t s . Af ter a l l , we are neighbors i f not bro thers and s is ters .
