WE SURVIVED ASIA’S LONGEST DUAL ZIPLINE by Pastor Louie

I will never forget what Chad Loomis told me before I left for the Philippines. He said, “

Pastor Louie, don’t forget to have fun”. To Chad, thank you for saying those words. I never planned to have much fun as my mind was focused on three things on our vaca-

tion; first, to see Beng’s family whom we have not seen since 2011; second, to share God’s Message to my former parishioners as I was scheduled to preach on August 7 ;

and third, our scheduled fellowship with all the pastors and deaconesses of the MOLDEN District of Northwest Mindanao Philippines Annual Conference. Praise the Lord that Beng

and I were able to accomplish them, but those words of Chad kept coming back;

“Pastor Louie, don’t forget to have fun”.

Conquering Asia’s longest dual Zipline was the best fun we had during our

vacation. It is almost a mile long- a really extreme adventure. I felt like superman flying through the sky at 50 mph at 4,700 feet above sea level . It was an adrenaline

rush! It was a breath-taking, nerve-cracking, heart-pumping experience . We were there for a whole day and enjoyed the quietness of nature. It was also a moment of

truly appreciating the beauty of God’s creation. Dahilayan Forest Park was a place of rest and refreshment , a time of quieting our souls before God. Hallelujah !

Jesus Christ our Lord is awesome!

HOME WHERE I BELONG Part 1

As of this writing, I consider myself well-rested from 2 bouts with the flu, headaches and 1 bout

with asthma—all from coping with Philippine weather. It suddenly occurred to me that tropical

weather has become an enemy—Lord have mercy!

The first thing I did when I got back home was hug my Mom really tight. Five years is such a long

time not being able to see her and catch up. Second was the much-awaited food trip! And boy did

I enjoy it! My Mom prepared my favorite food and I ate like there was no tomorrow! Plus-my High

School best friend, Lea Dometita, aka Jedd, came over to visit me in my province

(Cagayan De Oro) and I treated her to a smorgasbord of local food. The best that my island could

offer is seafood—caught fresh. You can have it brought fresh to your doorstep or cooked in a

restaurant. There’s nothing like feasting with your family and friends!

I can’t wait to have another vacation!

I missed out on wading at the beach because the heat was killing me and Louie—so much so

that I had to get a haircut! But all is well! We’re back safe and sound. Thanks to all who made

this trip possible—God bless your hearts!

My Mom’s most patronized sea-

food vendor, his name is Toto—

he’s weighing seaweed;

Prawn House by the bay.

I would like to take a minute to say Thank You to everyone in this wonderful

Church Family! We joined this church 19 years ago and have always felt like

part of the family. I never imagined that one day I would be your Secretary

and Youth Directory. I am so happy to be here every day helping everyone that

comes in the door or calls. I worked for Emmetsburg Reporter for 25 years. I

made a lot of very good friends at the newspaper, and had a lot of fun most of

the time. I really believe that had I not worked there, I would not have met

most of the people that I know now. Being here is so relaxing and welcoming

that I can’t imagine myself working anywhere else.

I believe that God wanted me to be here, to work for and with all of you. When

I was asked if I wanted to apply for this job, I said “I don’t even know were my

resume is”. That night I told God, if this is something I should do, please let me

know. I was getting things ready for Kiersten’s graduation and the first box I

opened, there were my resumes right on top. I honestly had no idea where they

were, but God had a plan for me.

Know that my door is always open and I will do my best for all of you.
